2005 Mercruiser 5.0 thunderbolt V ignition has no sparks

Depends on which kill switch we're talking about. I had assumed he was talking about the shift interrupt switch. The Man overboard switch is the one you're referring to...

2005 Mercruiser 5.0 thunderbolt V ignition has no sparks

Yes (at least it isn't stuck closed). The switch is located on a plate next to the shifter. You can see one side of it hooked to the green and white wire.

Can someone do me a favor and measure ski hatch pull latch?

I'll be able to do it on Thursday if no other takers. Tag me then if you still need it.

    Oil Change question

If we're the only one using it, we can call it whatever TF we want.

    Oil Change question

Maybe we can shift to a RON vs. AKI discussion.

    Oil Change question

Probably drinks ½ liter, which is totally lame. Although drinking a liter sounds more appealing than drinking a quart for some reason. Sounds like I'll need to do some market research.

    Oil Change question

Once you run it the filter will take another ½ bottle of your preferred measurement system. Pressure will be high until the engine warms up. But agree that you need to make sure there wasn't water there. Otherwise fill it using the dip stick

    Air Don't Freeze Winterization

Ouch. I only occasionally do stupid **** to break my boat.

    Air Don't Freeze Winterization

IDK, I've heard rumors that there are people out there that have boats that just work.

    Air Don't Freeze Winterization

I think you're brave if you throw the boat into the lake for the first run without starting it on muffs first, but no, no priming necessary.

Boat swamped, let's see if we can get it running...

Good to know about that site. I already had ordered the rocker switch, which should be fine. I *think* that those holes were the source of the leak. My cover apparently became porous after the scrubbing that it took, so got water in the boat overnight, which made ruling it out definitively...

    5.0 Mercruiser Problems

Did you verify the firing order and that your #1 plug is actually #1 as suggested? Adjusting your idle mix screws (which it sounds like what you're talking about) might improve your idle, but won't do anything for your top end. A malfunctioning TKS will make it rich at all speeds, I'd want to be...

    5.0 Mercruiser Problems

Verify this. Description doesn't cut it. The distributor markings might not correspond to the actual engine position. Rotate the engine until you're at TDC in the #1 cylinder. Make sure that the rotor is pointed at the #1 plug. Then do your plug order from there

Boat swamped, let's see if we can get it running...

Nope, 2 dc motors switched by relays. I want dpst so that I can switch both circuits at the same time. Amperage through the circuits is minimal, only enough to switch the relays

Alpha 1 Gen 2 Upper Seal Issue?

There are only 3 seals in the upper, and the input shaft seal would leak into the bellows. The other 2 would be replaced as a pair. It could leak anywhere depending on the attitude of the drive, but yeah, should see it between the drives esp if tilted on the side. Also should be obvious if you...
