    Buzzer alarm wiring

A lot of those 4.3 motors have buzzers for low oil pressure or overheat. I believe the sensors for both system ground their wires to the block. The sender for oil pressure to the gauge is separate from the low oil pressure sensor.

    Won't trim up under load

What year motor? Some motors have trim limit switches which are adjustable. Some have 3 cylinder PTT units. Two trim cylinders will trim motor a bit. The third cylinder is a tilt cylinder which is too weak, by design to tilt the motor under anything other than idle speed.

1977 johnson 115. Idles up to 6k but won’t push boat up on plane

If the motor spins 6000RPM and the boat doesn't move fast, the prop is likely spun and slipping.

    Mercury Black Max Problems

Constant alarm is probably overheat. So rebuild water pump with a new impeller, wearplate and 2 gaskets. If lower part of pump is melted, replace that as well. If upper part of pump is melted or cracked, replace it. Check and test thermostats. They do wear out. Retest operation of motor...

Throttle and shift cable for mercruiser

MerCruisers have an upper and lower shift cable. The lower shift cable goes to the outdrive and connects to an ignition killer switch, on the block, near the upper shift cable. If the lower shift cable binds, the switch is activated, and the ignition is killed. You might check for this...

    Help with motor height adjustment

Setting the motor up for best speed, may not allow you to pull a tube, without prop ventilation. It is the nature of pulling tubes. So you may need to lower the motor a bit when pulling tubes.

    1988 v135 reassembly help

I am not sure what a "working unit" is. Are you trying to install the upper shift shaft? It is normally installed before the powerhead is installed, as it is under the carbs, and sometimes the block. Did you look at the parts diagrams on sites like crowleymarine?

    Chop 5-pin tach plug?

That should work. Or you could order a replacement, if it is replaceable.

locating PS leak on 2001 Mercruiser 5.0L EFI alpha one gen II

Sometimes they leak into the cooling water at the cooler. In that case, you may see the ATF bubble up in the water, or you could pull off a cooling hose and look for it there.

    Hard steering going left

Most outboard motors and sterndrives have a zinc or aluminum fin above and behind the prop. These can be turned to help balance the steering. See if you have one. The zinc variety of these fins (AKA torque tabs), also act as an anode to help stop galvanic corrosion of the gearcase. Power...

Outboard repaint - need suggestions on materials

Briteside is for above waterline use. However, as long as the motor is tilted up out of the water, it is fine. It will not fail until submerged for a few days.

Check the wiring. Maybe the jiggles cause it to lose a cylinder's spark.

Alarm on 225 Optimax 2cycle oil reservoir under cowl

With the cap loose on the engine mounted tank, engine running, it should fill and overflow. So it sounds like the pressure line to the remote oil tank is leaking or the check valve is bad.

2016 mercury 60 hp efi,are all t stats tested in hot to boiling water?

Outboard t-stats open at 140*F or thereabouts. Sounds like yours is bad. The other candidate is a waterpump rebuild. It would not be unusual if you picked up sand to chew up the impeller.

    Mercury 150 optimax 2010

Gee, what alarm? How many beeps? That motor has three fuel pumps on it, 2 electric and one mechanical lit-type pump. I presume you rebuilt the mechanical pump? Was there water in the water separator on the motor?

    Mercury 850

The baffle is under the outer water jacket cover, on the starboard side of the motor. The inner water jacket cover is under the baffle. It is pretty obvious, as it has many bolts. Those bolts are epoxied into the block. You probably should use some heat to break the epoxy bond.

Need help!!!! 4.3 mercruiser just clicking

I have had the starter solenoids hang up in their tube. If you bought a rebuilt starter, that is a possibility. It shouldn't happen on a new starter though.

    Mercury 850

The drain hose is on the telltale fitting on the head, right? Those motors usually leak at the water jacket cover on the cylinder head, around the spark plugs. If you dry the area of leaking off and apply some silicone caulk it should stop leaking. The motor does not have a removeable...
