    dont want to hold up this thread...but on this subject of condensers 7.5V or 120AC (rectified I presume) would generate a test voltage much lower than 270DC in W.Mohat's test box. His test box would seem more sophisticated to test a shorted or "leaky" condensers.

    pumping the bulb is usually indicative of a weak or faulty fuel pump check for small air leak or try a new tank & hose from a buddy also..check all filters for obstruction, tank pick up etc.. especially the one under the cap on the fuel pump..

    btw if the wear/break area is the same you can always slip on a 10-12 inch piece of heat shrink tubing over the pull cord . It should not impeed the operation while protecting the wear zone. :-)
