    5.7 Mercruiser(thunderbolt iv)/Alfa 1 out drive intermittent issue

Need fuel, air, spark, compression to run Putting in reverse "should not" use the interrupt switch. You said have spark on all 8. Compression does not just disappear, and its not being started in a vacuum, so it has to be fuel That is unless this might be the twilight zone and Rod Sterling is...

    Delco EST High Idle

A 1987 350 used TB4 ignition. With the TB4 the shift interrupter grounded one lead on the distributor. To use the EST the switch needs to apply 12V and not a ground. Did you change the setup?

    5.7 Mercruiser(thunderbolt iv)/Alfa 1 out drive intermittent issue

I'm thinking a carb issue. Starts when its cold and on trailer (no load). In the water it needs a different fuel mix, bit more. Unless spark is stopping, then its fuel. Boat being on the trailer and after its warmed up. If the motor is shut off will it restart?

    engine cutting out please help

Correct, have to have marine scan tool Rinda.com The main problem with the MPI motors is its next to impossible to find out what is wrong with them without a scanner. Might stumble upon the issue by replacing more parts, but this can also cause other issues Attached are 2 bulletins

    Carb or worse?

Don't know how it cracked, could be a defect or maybe got to hot. Don't see water from a crack manifold to blow a head gasket, but if a head gasket blows it can build enough heat to crack the manifold Same as above, if it gets hot enough maybe, or if the manifold was not torqued to spec, or...
