    Somebody struggled with that oval cover in second picture.----Broke the 10-24NC screws and went to 1/4-20 NC in there.

    The cost of labor to fix them is the issue.-----Most were not made with good materials.-----And they were never assembled to be repaired.------The sad part is that many similar boats are still being used.-----Folks have no idea what is in the transom or under the floor.

    What motor ?------Was boat on a trailer ?----What boat ?----Did renter put a new prop on ?----Was it bent before this last renter used it ?

    The flywheel is held on with 5 bolts.------Usually just pries off. ---No puller needed.

    Picture #2 does not show any damage from binding.-------That pin LOCATES the front bearing for oil flow in the bearing.----Look at it carefully.-----So just drill for a second pin.

    Key is to be pushed in and held in while cranking.------Load test your battery.-----Take starter apart for inspection and ohm test of armature.------Slow cranking can lead to a hard to start motor.

    Newer Mercury pumps may well be part of the carburetor itself.----A Johnson / Evinrude fuel pump is an elegantly easy solution.

    Some will argue------It is very simple to install a pump like one off a 9.9 Johnson / Evinrude.----That is what I would do !

    The ignition parts on these engines are very good and reliable.------Most are replaced needlessly.------What other trouble shooting has been done ?-----Some will argue but compression values are low on your motor.-----I would also load test the battery.----And take starter apart for ohm check on...

    Perhaps someone switched to parts that they had on hand or readily available.-----Done all the time.------With wiring diagram you can return to Yamaha bits.-----Yamaha assembly is $192.-----OMC relays are $17 each.-----Perhaps that is why it was modified.

    There are several sites where you can look up parts for these.---Call a local boat shop / dealer and see what they say.---Many consumable parts are available I believe.-------Example -----Looks like cylinder heads ( bare ?) for these 1992 models are available $105 CA .-----Many parts are not...
