    You have to rewire your boat to use anything over a 42 amp alternator. It can be done, however you need to replace wiring from the alternator to the battery and the helm. You have to bypass the ammeter.

    STOP. Unless that tub is big enough to submerge the whole drive, the pump can not prime You toasted your impeller. Impellers do not "suck", they only push fluid and must be submerged to prime. So replace your impeller and use a set of muffs

    A 2001 boat should have between 1100 hours and 2200 hours if it was used With normal maintenance, 5000 hours plus is the norm. As Bondo states, boat motors are normally murdered by lack of maintenance and do not die of normal wear. Plus, I am willing to bet the key was left on more than once.

    you have water pooled on top of the valve, and the valve and seat are rusted. your manifolds need to be acetone tested as visual inspection doesnt mean squat......as that is pooled water in the center port you need to pressure test the cooling water jacket and do a compression and leak down...

    did you poke each and every drain in the block, manifolds, hoses, etc to ensure that water did drain? or does this have the 3-point or single point drain system which may or may not drain the block, heads, manifolds, etc.?
