8.1 GXiE Engine Only Runs WOT

Without a scanner I would check fuel pressure. Your IAT is located on the intake as item 2 in link an the Merc part number 805223T (I know yours is a VP). Don't see the IAT as being the problem. Adding a resistor to the ECT would tell the PCM that it is even colder so it needs more fuel...

Volvo Penta Stalling and alarm location

I think your measuring pressure at the low pressure pump. You should also have a Vapor Separation Tank (VST) which contains the high pressure pump. To read the HP pump, you need a fitting to place in line at the TB...

High Idle on 5.7 Volvo Penta

Really need to read codes Faster idle can be from the TPS sending the wrong voltage to the ECM. It has 3 wires on it, 5V, Gnd and Reference. Should be a Orange/Blue wire which supplies reference to the ECM. At idle this voltage should be near zero (0.5V)

Volvo Penta Stalling and alarm location

There is another poster which asked the same question, so I will answer it this way. The LK series manual does show 13 +/- 2 psi for TBI. That said, it would not be the first time that there was a typo in a manual. The TBI is a GM designed unit which was used by Merc and VP. All the GM and Merc...

    ghost in the machine ?

The coil gets tested using the ohm scale as in the link above. Center post to - should be 6000 to 15000 ohms From + to - should be .4 to 2 ohms The battery when taken off a charger will be above 12.7 for a while. Another thing that can show higher then normal is the accuracy of the meter...

    Adding a battery, what else..

Yes your ALT can handle it but also suggest adding a automatic charge relay (ACR. The ACR will automatically charge the second bat without flipping the switch. The switch can still be used to combine bats if needed to start

    Mercruser 1. Trim pump upgrade

Since your replacing everything with new style yo don't need the reverse lock. If the motor will not even come on then there is a wiring problem. What control buttons do you have (3 button)?

    Stalling

The shift switch should only move when the boat is in the water, in gear and your shifting into neutral. Adjust the lower shift cable to make sure its is adjusted correctly If this is correct, then adjust the shift switch so it is positioned in the center

    1975 mercruiser 165 starting issue

Cross these two shown should energize the relay and the starter should crank the motor. If this does not happen, you can jump across the larger terminals on each side which by passes the solenoid. Doing it this way will pull a lot more current, so if done use large cables
