Have to go to a site MOD EDIT ( something you fish with ) and find it.----Just about 10 clicks or less.
We don't like that either. Click Jarhead's name and PM.
Any pictures ?-----There is a website that lists years that will fit.----Can not mention the name here as they do not like it !!----Looks like 1986 to 2001 might be the same.
A fairly typical story I say.-----The previous owner started it for you with no water for the impeller ????----Sounds like fuel pump might be an issue.-----Or the fuel tank and hose are no good.
I found a Briggs & Stratton lawnmower engine at the local recycle depot.----No money invested.------Took it apart just to see.----Found crankshaft material to be very soft ( bent shaft ) and scrapped this motor.------Found that cams were plastic and gear on camshaft was plastic too.------Things...
???----As far as I know pistons are the same for the 3.500" bore crossflow from 1974 to 1998 models.----Be it an 85 / 100 / 115 / 135 / 140 HP model.----The 115 and 135 have the same bore , stroke and displacement !!
I think those use the same pump / impeller as the 2 stroke models did for years.----Hurry to your local boat shop for help and parts.----Same kit used from 1974 to 2007 models.
Yes that is the way they were.----Should be easy to find the correct parts with help of your friendly boat shop !----You need this 2 tube set-up.----Easy to find.
Not likely that you have 4 bad coils.-----Bad testing maybe.------Start with a load test of the battery.----Take starter apart for inspection and OHM test.-----No money spent on those steps !!
The people who buy these monsters new do not have to worry about upkeep / fuel prices.------You just pay the marina monthly fee for covered storage and maid service.-----Always been that way.
Same parts all over the motors , with different color paint and cosmetics on the cowling.----Something to do with MARKETING as it was in the 1950's ---1960's ---1970's-----Not the same as it is today !!
