I'm REALLY in the dog house now

So my wife and I were discussing plans for an upcoming vacation, she wants to fly there, I don't since our son is so young. So I go into the other room and think about it for a bit, and she's still in the bedroom sitting in front of the mirror. Well I finally thought, well we might as well...

Are more pet food recalls forthcoming?

Since this beef recall is based upon the mistreatment of downer cows that are normally processed into dog and cat food, does anyone know, or has anyone heard if they plan to recall any pet food as well?

    I screwed up... help!!

I messed up. I was using some bondo today, and I wanted to increase my working time, so I mixed in less hardener (by about a third of what I normally put in). Now, normally it's set up in about 10-15 minutes... but it's been 6 hours and it hasn't set up... what can I do to fix it?

    Crappie

My wife's been bugging me lately about going crappie fishing... She says it's supposedly good this time of year. I'm saying I don't think so though, because it's still the middle of winter. Anybody out there that can clear this up for me?

    Almost official

Well it's almost official... Congress passed and sent the economic stimulus package to the president who already indicated he would sign it. "The legislation would deliver rebates -- $600 for individuals, $1,200 for couples -- to most taxpayers, plus an additional $300 per child. Individuals...

    Giants win the superbowl

Well so much for the superbowl blowout... that was a hell of a game!! Congrats giants fans... your team showed up to play... wish I could say the same for the pats. But I havn't seen an offensive line that chopped up since... well... never. The Pats might as well have waived on the giants to...

    How long should I wait?

How long should I wait to use acetone to clean the surface of freshly laid glass with poly resin? It's curing at 60 degrees F. I would jump right in and start sanding, but I put a surface coat of hardener over it (as opposed to surfacing wax, and it seems to work as well or better), only...

    Just an odd question

This is just an odd question, but why do we use fiberglass? Why not cotton, or polyester batting? Just a strange question, but I got to looking at some poly batting, and noticed how it looks similar to mat. I'm sure the poly batting would disintegrate in the poly resin though, so that kinda...

    Tiller to remote conversion

I found what may turn out to be an affordable deal on a motor that looks pretty good and would fit my needs, with one problem... it has a tiller. It's a Johnson. I'm wondering if it's possible to convert from an electric start tiller to the full remote control and steering, and what I'll be up...

    Rod holders

Do those flush mount rod holders really need to swivel? I've seen some that do, and they are very expensive vs the ones that don't, just wondering what the benefit is.

    Wednesday's funnies

Since we all have to pitch in while spinner is goneTwo blondes from Chicago decided that they wanted to visit disneyland one day. Plane fare was expensive, so they decided to drive. Well they got on the interstate and drove for a while and eventually passed a sign that said "food, gas, and...

    I must be insane...

You know, I must be crazy. Lately I've seen several boats in craigslist with motors, in better condition than my boat is in now, selling for less than what I've got in my current boat. Why havn't I scrapped this project? Tell me, why am I still working on this boat?? I'll tell you why...

    Resin bonds

Well, next up on my list is going to be the tops of the gunwales, since I'm ready to do that project now and won't have to buy anything else for it. In order to level out the tops of the gunwales though, I need to let the resin pool and level itself out when I pour it into place. I don't think...

    wait... what? WHAT?! WTF?!?!!!

So this tiny little article is stuffed way back in page 6 of our local newspaper where no one will see it. Apparantly some 22 yr old guy who lives with his parents in TX built a working NUCLEAR REACTOR in his garage!!! (That's the first "what" in the title) He bought the Uranium to fuel the...

    Guns on boats

Since we had this discussion earlier, I thought this was relevant. Apparantly the USA might soon lift gun restrictions in state and federal parks to allow firearms. This carries over to boating because it also affects your rights to carry firearms aboard your boats when in lakes and rivers...

    The toughest brain teaser ever...

Brainteaser #1: A shop sells BAUBLES for 50 cents, CANDLES for 650 cents, and PUDDINGS for 1001 cents. What do SLEIGHS cost? (this IS actually solvable for those of you that may be tempted to believe otherwise) Brainteaser #2: A car is travels at 21 mph, a lorry travels at 37 mph and a van...

    Day-Knights and Night-Knights

You go to an underground kingdom that is half and half filled with Day-Knights and Night-Knights. Day-Knights tell the truth during the day and lie at night, while Night-Knights lie during the day and tell the truth at night. You forgot to wind your watch and after some time, you forget if...

    A better brain teaser

Ok, here's one that's a little harder, but still easily solvable. There are 4 guys as pictured below, only with 2 red and 2 blue shirts (randomly placed) lined up (we'll call them from left to right, A, B, C, and D). None of them can see their own shirts. They are all 4 in a line and the one...

    A little brain teaser...

Ok, so here it goes... first one to get it right gets a kudos, and you should all know this one. A boat has a ladder with 5 rungs on it, each spaced exactly 1 foot apart and each rung is exactly 1 inch high. The lowest rung is 2" above the water. The tide is rising at an even rate of 12"...
