    65hp evinrude no power

sounds like the #3 cylinder has shot skirts... cannot pull enough fuel/air mix in. i've done 1/2 dozen of these this year, including the 2 cyl looper versions and after a bore/hone job, they idle perfectly with plenty of power. you'd be amazed what a complete rebuild can do... shows you how...

    Replacement side controls OMC

the cables all have slack brand new. thats why the service manual has a whole procedure to install them correctly to eliminate backlash.

    Prop shaft run out spec?

tip it upside down and leave it there for an hour. anything comes out, you know what to replace. the driveshaft seal and shift shaft seal and gasket are most prone to failure, both very easy to replace.

250 etec pair trim not working

haha no batteries are great... both motors start as well as a new car. i did jump the trim motors directly by grounding the black wire and adding power to both green and blue wires. they worked for a split second then nothing. im thinking both trim motors are bad... or bad wiring but everything...

ok thanks guys ill run those tests and report back... but the odd thing is BOTH trim motors do not operate, just a clicking solenoid on each. both went out at the same time which sounds quite fishy if not related to both! and when i say the motors are clean I mean SPOTLESS.... all leads look...

Johnson 70 hp 3 cyl / 2-stroke dies when giving more throttle

without having a brand new motor to compare it to, you often won't notice a motor with bad leakdown being low on power . i will say, i've had quite a few of these spit fuel out at low speed (not as much as yours), but as soon as you open the throttle plates, the vacuum increases and the spitting...

Will not turn over with all plugs on.

is once cylinder hitting the spark plug? did you align all the dowl pins in the crank? if the center split bearing is off, it wont seat right and hang up on the crank case as well.

Johnson 70 hp 3 cyl / 2-stroke dies when giving more throttle

the reason Fazt mentioned bad cylinder should be clear! if it doesnt have adequate vacuum (ie. leakdown), it cannot pull in fuel/air with the correct volume, hence spitting back wasted fuel. pull the head and check.

    Is a 582106 coil a compatible replacement for a 582508 coil

yes, but you will need to cut the primary in the connector and install CDI terminals to fit the new primary terminal nipple on the new coils. i do it all the time.

Will not turn over with all plugs on.

load test the battery and clean all connections. if that still doesnt do it, rebuild the starter with new brushes. should fix you right up. also verify the starter mounting bolts are torqued to 130 in/lbs and not moving.

    Johnson 150 Rebuild/Remanufacture Guidance

i've used a torque stick, but only after verifying its actually doing atleast 145 ft/lbs. the big thing is to lap the flywheel to the taper with some valve grinding compound. do that, and she isn't going anywhere even if it had 350hp lol

    Johnson 70 3cyl overheating

the issue is whats known as an "overcooling" condition. it will cause excessive carbon buildup on top of the pistons and head, raising temperatures and can open you up for detonation down the road, stuck rings etc. not a pretty picture! it needs to be warm enough to burn as much fuel as...

    1993 70hp stumped!

Well found out some interesting info. Block is a 1986 non-ovalport matched to 1993 linkages/quickstart electronics and carbs. Got it to fire on all 3 now... was a bad ground on the top coil. Idles like all hell though. The needle settings and low speed jets, since they are for a different block...
