I tried testing for continuity on the black wire with ring terminal (mounts back by coils ) and have no continuity between that ring terminal and the pin in the red plug...

    Looking at a cmc pt130 trim bracket for my 97 evinrude 40 hp tiller. My motor uses clamp screws for mounting. Will I be able to use a cmc bracket as it seems most motors are just bolted to the cmc using the large bolt holes on the swivel bracket. My motor only has small holes so not confident...

    You think that whole bracket will swap over? I have a 48 hp longshaft parts motor but it's a regular controls motor and has the touch trim unit (non functional) . I wonder if I swap that bracket all I need is the power trim unit from another motor not a whole bracket

    Is there an alternative to the lever operated touch trim cylinder for my 97 evinrude 40 hp longshaft tiller ? It doesn't use the same bracket as a control equipped motor or else I'd think about adding a power trim unit.

    Mission accomplished. Tapped a 5/16-18 threads into the shift bushing. Ran a threaded rod into the bushing through a block of wood on top of the gearcase housing.     I saw someone tapped the bushing with a 5/16 - 18 course tap then ran an all thread into the bushing using a block on top of the gearcase with a nut to tighten so it acts like a puller. Think this will work?

    Yes oil was in lower unit when tested. 14 psi. No water in oil after running it for several minutes. Gear oil was empty when I bought the motor so maybe someone knew about the issue

    Low hour motor. I barely pushed on it. In fact it leaked on its own when it was removed from the motor for water pump replacement. I noticed it leaking a good deal when re assembling. I'm wondering if a self tapping screw put into the bronze bushing then prying it out under the screw head?
