    Tachometer/Regulator Question

Thanks for posting an update. I'm intending to wire up a tach and have been watching this thread.

    Another "Joe Reeves" method question...

Edit.. I just Don't want to be too advanced to cause harm.

    Another "Joe Reeves" method question...

I also did the piston stop procedure where you turn the flywheel until it stops, make a mark, and then again on the upstroke. Then measure the distance in half for true TDC. I just want to be too advanced to cause harm. I double check everything and just put it on 24 degrees BTDC. It just...

    I'm also bottomed out here.

    Another "Joe Reeves" method question...

I'll have time Monday to verify if the flywheel is still correctly lined up with the woodruff key.

    Another "Joe Reeves" method question...

Please be blunt... The only reason I'm looking at the timing is as l mentioned in another thread, I feel like this motor isn't reaching it's full power. . Using the Joe Reeves method, I was setting at 18 degrees before TDC, when I should be at 24. Motor specs is 28, so I should be at 24 with...

    Another "Joe Reeves" method question...

Throttle Plates are horizontal - they are fully open when I bottom out at the very top of the slot.

    Another "Joe Reeves" method question...

I really can't see how I can get any more WOT if I'm up tight against the top of the slot.

77 Evinrude 85hp stalls going into gear- adjustment screws?

I'm just starting out myself. Those are the shafts attached to the butterflies. . I wouldn't adjust anything you don't know what it is. . But, before you adjust anything, go around your motor and take a picture of everything. That way if you do adjust something wrong, you can get back to where...

    Another "Joe Reeves" method question...

If I know without a doubt the TDC mark on my 1994 Johnson 90hp v4 Crossflow flywheel is accurate because I checked it to make sure. Can I use the "Joe Reeves" method to verify timing on this motor? . I disconnected the cables. I opened it up to where the carburetors are fully open, the roller in...

    Top Dead Center Tool -DIY

I have used that method with automotive engines, but I figured the piston stop tool would be more precise for this outboard that likely has less tolerance.

    Top Dead Center Tool -DIY

I made my own, but my distance between mark A and mark B is 5 inches. My TDC Mark on my flywheel and pointer line up just like they should. . My thinking is my DIY TDC Tool works fine since all we're trying to do is find two reference points in the #1 pistons up travel and down travel. Then...

    Evinrude 90HP won’t go over 2000RPM

Yep, time is limited. If you could though, if you find the solution to the issue, please post what you figured out. It makes it helpful for others with similar issues. Thanks

    Evinrude 90HP won’t go over 2000RPM

I tried searching for an electronic copy for my 1994 90hp Johnson. I never found one, and I didn't want to pay for a subscription one. I ended up buying a used physical one on eBay.

    Evinrude 90HP won’t go over 2000RPM

Are you saying the plugs had a gap of around 3/8? Or that you used an adjustable spark tester and the spark jumped the 3/8 gap on the spark tester?

    Rectifier Upgrade

With your motor off. Check the voltage at your battery terminals/posts with a multimeter. It should be around 12.8v. Then, with the motor running, check the voltage at the battery again with the multimeter. Is it reading 16v, or closer to 13v?

2001 Johnson 90HP Dies on the water

When my Suzuki was doing something similar, it wasn't getting enough fuel. Enough for running in the driveway, but not for sustained use under the load of pushing the boat. Mine was the primer bulb. I had the issue with two primer bulb hose setups. So I bought, I think, a Sierra Marine primer...

    Sputtering Johnson V4 90hp - 1994

The 7000 Faria Tach should be here Monday. I checked the current prop on the Johnson. It has a 13.25x17. My Suzuki has a 13.5x15. It has the same splines. I'll see where both props put me for RPMs at WOT and post back.
