    Sputtering Johnson V4 90hp - 1994

How about the recirculation valves? I guess I can check that they aren't plugged, or stuck open.

What's the bleed system? Bowls aren't plastic.

    Sputtering Johnson V4 90hp - 1994

Actually, no, it's likely not stuck open. If it was, my primer bulb wouldn't get solid. Nevermind. I'm trying everyone's suggestions. And checking things you guys bring up. I'm just not finding what's causing the issue, and I'm just searching and searching the forums. . Bright side is I'm going...

    Sputtering Johnson V4 90hp - 1994

Yeah, sorry. If the primer solenoid valve is stuck open and the fuel pump is pumping, the fuel would be just 'pumping' on through the primer solenoid straight to the carburetors, correct?

    Sputtering Johnson V4 90hp - 1994

Since this thread has gotten long, and since it's about possible air/fuel issues, I won't include my ignition troubleshooting here. . Once I get done verifying all the ignition stuff, and if I don't find anything wrong with anything related to the ignition, I'm going to try checking the primer...

1981 Johnson 90 HP overheating, but not all the time

Have you tried pointing one of those cheap heat sensing guns at the cylinders to see how hot it actually is?

    Does this Belong to a 1994 V4?

Yep, that's it. It may have just been laying there under something. Either way, Not a 94 Johnson 90hp part. 94 uses traditional glass fuses. Moving on...

    Does this Belong to a 1994 V4?

I guess I should have put a dime next to it for size reference. The piece is about 3/4 inch long and about 3/16 wide and about the thickness of a blade fuse. That's actually what it looks to me. But I just want to make sure if someone knows it's definitely nothing they've seen on a V4.

    Does this Belong to a 1994 V4?

Does this look like anything that belongs to a 1994 V4? While I was working on my thermostats on my 1994 Johnson 90hp v4, I came across this on the ground right below the motor where I was working. To me it looks like an electrical connector of some sort. .

    Sputtering Johnson V4 90hp - 1994

I couldn't just step away. I'm so obsessive compulsive. I pulled the thermostats. Again, everything is clean inside. It's obvious the ol fellow was religious about taking it in for service. The bolts weren't corroded stuck at all. Around the hose connections were a little over done with RTV, but...

V4 - Minimize Chances of Broken Rings

So, I could run it until it breaks a ring, but don't I risk when the ring breaks it scouring the cylinder wall, or chipping a portion of a port? . We'll see how this motor ends up working out for me, and if I decide to stick with it rather than find a 70hp, I'll likely just do the upgrade during...

V4 - Minimize Chances of Broken Rings

I read somewhere, and it may be wrong, but thought I read that they dropped the top ring down a little on the piston making it possibly less vulnerable.

Late 70's to Late 80's - Worth shopping for?

Are the 70hp less apt to break rings?

Yeah, I thought he hyped it up a bit much.
