[SPLASHED] I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Verado is 7.4 quarts Electric steering much better than hydraulic. Down side can you steer if pump doesn't run, found out by accident I can it's just hard My Cummings 6.7 is 3 gallon of full syn and change every 15K

    Pipe-mounted bunk bracket?

Don't know of anyone which makes them out of pipe anymore, round is hard to keep in position with a set screw or clamp under heavier loads. I made a adjustable trailer using 1 inch threaded rod and weld a plate on top, used a nut to adjust Could use galvanized pipe from the hardware store and a...

For flushing find what ever is cheapest, your not going to put the motor under load so no issue. Do agree lower weight like 10w30, could use 0w20 but that's synthetic and probably cost more

Maybe my turn for new boat time

I went around and around with Chap right after purchase and all they said is this is how we build it. If I had only one motor it would be 3.5 turns but add another and same lines and pump and you get 8 Did find that if the lines were increased to about 1/2 ID with adjustable helm you can change...

Maybe my turn for new boat time

It's mostly handling during docking, OB just don't bite like IO and then add to it hydraulic steering. Instead of 3.5 turns lock to lock it's 8 turns. Could be joy stick would make it better but it's a light boat with a hardtop, and the top makes it a sail in the wind. I the boat weighed another...

    Air Trapped in Outdrive...

Yes there is some air and how much depends on how the drive was refilled. On the boat, off the boat and angle. It also takes a little time for bubbles to work it's way out

Search for "gm oil pump primer tool" and several will show up Your motor may be fine, I'm just saying you need to get the water out if you want to keep it. You can run any motor for 30 seconds without water, but do remove the drive. Get all the water out, put fresh oil in and prefill the...
