[SPLASHED] I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

I just realized the valve cover is an adapter plate. It really is mostly a gen 1. :ROFLMAO: Wonder if the 4.5 crank will fit my 4.3. Another winter project. :p

The divergence on the dual prop is about what I'd expect. I don't know the exact speed where the second prop starts to really add drag but I'd say it looks like around 45 mph. Guess I could calculate it but I don't feel like it. Those merc engines are interesting. They basically look like...

[SPLASHED] I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

In my defense, my role at work has been transitioning more and more to asking questions... so I'm just in a questioning mood lately. I also sat in a meeting all day playing with salt line modeling software so I've not been properly stimulated and was quite bored lol. (Note I'm like a toddler...

[SPLASHED] I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Two questions. Do you think the the apparent (I say that only because of the lack of top end RPM in current configuration and any number of things can help correct it) slight over proping of your current setup is also helping your low speed planing? I've seen it go both ways with that. Do you...

If possible, please share the recordings. Always cool seeing that stuff.

West Marine going out of business... and I can't think of anything I need!

In all fairness... when they're in some cases nearly double the price of the exact same part online or 40-60% higher than the dealer down the road for the same merc water pump... you can't help but wonder how this didn't happen sooner. I remember when they purchased boat US stores. I don't...

The joystick is really cool. My buddies boat has a bow thruster which allows you to do some pretty unique things as well but the pod setup to me is more intuitive. I forget, did you do "autopilot" as well?

I quote that and space balls entirely more often than I should.

I'm quite picky about brand. After getting access to the supply house where I can pick out and slice my own slabs... I don't think I'll ever go back to the supermarket. :p

    4.3 Mercrusier carb questions

If you do the simple green and ultrasonic route, you want the purple HD formula. That's the metal safe one. Everything comes out looking new.

Beef bacon is better than turkey bacon but obviously less better than pork bacon. And it's not really close because bacon is the only true super food. I love all my meats. If you'll excuse me I have to go be fat.

Never in my time on this planet would I have expected a professional to tell me to mind lettuce but keep eating bacon. :ROFLMAO: I have a love hate relationship with miracle whip. I mostly hate it but there are a few things it works pretty well in. That being said I can't remember the last time...

    4.3 Mercrusier carb questions

Mikes (and cliffs too I believe) both have excellent step by step videos on the mercarbs. Service manual 18 (available in the stickies) should have the section for the adjustments as well.

Bass boat trim authority sucks in mid range

It sounds like you may have a few things going on here as others have said... but at the lower speeds I wouldn't expect the boat to be up on the pad so to speak. A true neutral lifting prop like the enertia would help that greatly but that's only one piece....

West Marine going out of business... and I can't think of anything I need!

My west marine was more of a Kohls with a couple boat parts. Nearly half the store was clothing and coolers...

Tools that younger people would not recognize.

I don't really need the jumper either, just plug the ground side of the shift interruption switch to the purple and set timing. Need a wrench and a timing light. Can use a dial back if you want to be fancy.

The locations near me are conveniently out of anything marginally useful.

Jumper to ground and 10* BTC make engine go brrr.

Somewhere deep in the vault is a backup of our system on floppy drives, like a whole case. Coincidentally we still regularly use tape drives.

[SPLASHED] I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Interested to see the photos at speed of the plate. I would and wouldn't be surprised if you move it. I could see that lower speed planing going up a mph or two if you raise it. Only boat I messed with that on it was a compromise. Lower hole was better in a following sea. Higher better when you...
