Not sure how you could be getting 18v at the starter . but some modern stuff has reverse polarity protection , the reg/rect is probly custard but the ecu might be ok . I would check all the fuses you can find , replace any blown and then hook the battery up the right way and see if it will...

you should be able to suss that by checking the clearances. Lucky its not Desmo , my Ducati has another set of shims to clearance the closing rockers ( they dont have valve springs ) too ......thats 16 shims for a 2 cylinder engine and if I hammer it I get about 5000km's . Good fun :LOL:
