    Replacement Prop Selection

The pitch of the prop is the theoretical distance it should travel in one revolution. If it's a 21 pitch prop and you change to a 19 pitch prop, it will give you higher RPM's, less strain on the motor, and will help you plane quicker.

    Impeller replaced

90 seonds is probably not enough time for it to prime and get all the air out of the system. Let it run several minutes. You did put the key back in the shaft, right?

Saturn Leaking Water When on Plane

Fill the boat partially with water and just jacking up the tongue of the trailer and look for water running out. You'll want to try bow up and bow down if you have trouble looking for the leak. Much easier to locate water coming out than water getting in.

    Rethreading tie down strap buckle.

I'm guessing in the second picture those two ends represent the end of the one that is attached to the buckle and the end of the one that is bare on the end. just my assumption.

    Suzuki Dt16 Starter

You say you took it all apart and cleaned it up. Did the gear slide up and down the shaft when it was all apart? I've had the same problem on electric start motors and a good shot of WD40 on the shaft thatthe gear rides on did the trick with no probmes. I believe your gear is plastic or...

2000 50 hp tilt cylinder cap removal

About 10 years ago, I did purchase one. A cheap one from Harbor Freight. Self fed wire welder. It only caused frustration. Not really heavy duty enough to do anything I wanted to do. I've looked at some used ones from time to time, but now my boating takes up most of my spare time (and...

    1999 Force/Merc 75HP 3 Cylinder 2-Stoke Rough Running Issues

When you rebuilt the carbs did you order carb kits? I've attached a link to a blow up diagram of your carbs. Did you remove the plug #2 and clean the passages in there. That's part of your idle circuit. The kit will contain the replacement plug. That's pretty critical stuff under that plug...

Need help evinrude 48 at wits end

I've attached a blown up diagram of your carb. I hope it's yours, the year model is 1988. If it's been sitting 12 years, I'm sure all the gas evaporated in the carbs and that usually leaves a good coat of sticky varnish on the internals. You can buy a gallon can of carb cleaner with a basket...

    1977 55 HP Evinrude

If you can't idle, I'd focus on the idle circuit. You'll need to order carb kits and remove the plugs #4 and #5, and clean up the idle jet #38. The carb kits will come with replacement plugs.

Just can not figure it out

If it cranks on starter fluid, it's a fuel delivery problem. Send me the year of the motor and I'll send you a diagram of your carb and let you know what to focus on in cleaning it up.

Yamaha 90 no fire on cylinder 1

Sorry, you're over my head. How would I do that? Also, my son wonders if it might somehow be in limp mode. It accelerates fine up to 2300 RPM's. Always starts to studder beyond that point. If he gives it full throttle it will accelerate past that, but immediately stumbles and returns to 2300...

Yamaha 90 no fire on cylinder 1

My son has a 2004 Yamaha 90 TLRB. Cranks and runs great until you try to get to WOT. Bogs down and falls on its face. Idles great. After doing a little checking we're finding no fire on cylinder #1. Swapped coils around and still just #1 not firing. It's getting gas to plugs, but no spark...

How to wire a kill switch on a '77 Chrysler 135hp?

On the back of your ignition switch, I believe it's a blue wire. When the key is in the "ON" position this wire sends voltage to the ignition system. Since your lanyard switch only has 2 wires, once you determine that the blue wire on the ignition switch has 12V when the key is "ON", but no...

78 Johnson 115 Running Great! But Bow of Boat is "Plowing"?

Do you have a plug in the bilge area to drain water from the front of the boat? Some boats have two plugs. One at the bottom of the transom to let water drain out and one pointing forward to let water out of the bow area of the boat.

    1988 88 HP SPL Johnson

Plugs are wet? Does it smell like gas? If not, you have water in your fuel. Take the breather box off and pump the primer bulb. Does gas come out of the carbs? If so, you have a float needle/seat problem. If your plugs are wet with gas, you don't have sufficient spark, or your flooding...

    Trailer Wheel

That's a standard Toyota 4Wheeler wheel. I've got them on my Chevy Colorado, but the hub hole is actually a bit to large for my truck, but it is a 4" hub hole. Go to a salvage yard and get as many as you want for about $10 each.

Johnson 150 Starts Out of Water but Not In Water

Wow, so the starting system is capable of spinning fast enough to start until you put a little back pressure from exhaust? That's pretty interesting!

Well, That's It. Another Season Over

Slow down! I'm going out with the wife tomorrow! High of mid 80's tomorrow here in sunny Savannah Georgia. I was telling my grown sons that in looking over years of boating pictures, the only months I've not been able to find any pictures of us all out in our boats were January and February...
