Well, le me re-phrase. It will be 95% done. I don't think I will ever hit the 100% complete stage. There will always be room for improvement.

Dale. I think I'm going the same route with the Interlux paint. I'm planning to spray. How much primer and paint did you use? I have a 18 Chieftain so our square area should be the close if not identical. I'm thinking 1 qt. per coat on the entire hull. I'd like to apply at least 2 top coats.

My motto....The last 10% of the job will be noticed 100% of the time.

Mike, I used 2 cans of ZC, 1 qt of PrimeCoat and 2 qts of the gray. I only got one qt of the red and have some left over. I still have the interior to do (?) but that was plenty for the exterior. I also sprayed it with HVLP gun. I do like the way it applied and it seems hard as a rock.

Believe it or not, I actually spent some time on the boat, and I have pics too!
After a lot of thought and not able to make a decision on what I want to do as far as a livewell I decided to do a dry run on the deck. I will cut, brace and assemble everything I am able to without actually permanently fastening everything until I am satisfied. Does that make sense? I have the deck cut to fit the boat, I have the 25 gal tank setting in position, so I am working on deck braces and the ski locker. This is about where I want it.

fabricated the frame for the ski locker and attached it to the stringers. Then I laid the plywood back down, traced where I needed to cut, and placed the ply back down.

I fabricated the ski locker with these aluminum angles. I also pre cut the angle braces and drilled them.

I attached the braces to the stringers and traced the cut out on to the plywood. Then I laid it back in place.

I had a few pieces of teak wood that I salvaged off another boat. I traced & cut one of them for the ski locker. You can see a few of the other pieces too.

I will be using this piece to cap the knee brace. It is double the thickness and should do fine.

I hope to get the transom cut tomorrow and after I am sure of the deck then I can epoxy all the wood at the same time. I am also attaching more deck braces since I am using 1/2" plywood. I will post more pics tomorrow so ya'll can see my madness.

Yeah Jas, that is where my inlet/outlet for the fuel tank is. It will be under the splashwell but I will build a cover for it ( safety first). It is a 25 gal tank & I also got a 30 gal tank, but the larger one is a bit too big to fit. Maybe I'll use that one on my next boat, LOL

Notice I said Maybe. I have to do this one first and God willing I'll get it done before spring.
Ok, I pulled a "Jas" and was up at 2 this morning. I have been in the garage cutting the transom and discovered a few things that I would like to share. I had a piece of transom to go by but not exact. I cut the first piece by pattern but a tad larger. The top corners are at an angle to meet the gunwales, the rest is not. I also cut the top corners quite larger to give me a handle to lift and remove for adjustment purposes. After I got the first piece cut, and had to do some more cutting to make sure it fit right, I traced it for the second piece. I am useing two pieces of 3/4 Arcuro plywood. More to come later, gotta take SWMBO to the Doc this am. I have a plan a motivation. Thanks Guys!!!!

As I said the transom is in place.

I left the top corners long. That way I had handles to grab the transom while I was removeing it to do final trimming. I also could mark exactly where to cut the top and at what angles.

I predrilled a few holes and countersunk them. Then I screwed a few galvanized wood screws into the transom to hold it together as I remove it. I will be using these same screws to hold the pieces together as I epoxy them.

I used the same metal for a deck brace. I am going to run extensions off of it and the streamers and attach to the lower channel the transom wood rests in. I think that would be enough support.

I am also going to run metal under the transom channel to tie in the deck. I will post more pics of that later today.

Looks good man, I really like how you are beefing up the deck with that extra alum! I kinda, sorta have some plans to do something similar.

Thanks Jas. Yeah I hope you and I get to show some pics of these things in the water. It's kinda hard keeping myself from slapping the OB on her and taking her out. It really wouldn't take much to make it capable, but I guess I should do it right.
I finished cutting the transom and decided to apply some epoxy.

I put the two transom halves together with epoxy. Then laid them on the floor with weight on them. Hope its heavy enough.

Have a question, do you apply the epoxy with a roller or a brush? I used a 3" brush and it's kinda difficult because the stuff is thick, ( 60 degrees in garage). I was thinking of rolling it with a foam roller??
There is still a few things that need to be done before the deck is attached, but I wanted to get one coat of epoxy on the wood. Hopefully more pics saturday. Happy New Year all.
