Re: 1959 Glasscat Catamaran Project Underway.
You know it really is. A year and a half ago when I brought home that horrible blue mess (and everybody thought I was insane…especially my parents did; whom home it lived the whole time) I really did not think I could make something as nice as I have so far. I mean compared to somebody who has done this before (or even who has and knows how to use real tools and build something) my boat still is really rough (I can see the amateur in just about every aspect of it). But for me, I cannot believe that the project is at least coming to a close (or at least a real splash). I have learned so much over the course of the year from you guys, the internet in general and from just playing around that it really is mind boggling to me. For example if you told me a year ago that I would know how to apply fiberglass (and it sticks) I would not believe it. Or even my plaster walls. If you look at the first wall I did in the bathroom (with the towel bar) compared to the last one I did on the opposite side of the boat you can see a great deal of improvement. I never knew how to apply plaster. Heck I even DIY a small wooden HAWK for the application.
The fun meter is really off the chart already. I am already planning crayfish trips on the delta, 1000 miles of navigable water (and building my own traps; anybody know how?) and of course bouncing around the bay in Monterey.
Thank you all for pushing me to this point, without you all I would not be here
Maybe when I get to be an old geezer (and I have 10 boats or so under me, I will be a master like some of you guys).
Dave.
