Re: 1960's Falcon Rebuild (New Title)

Wow, very interesting, very cool!:joyous:

Thanks man! Just trying to make it look Purdy!

jbcurt00 - Might add a doubler cleat below deck to attach the console to as well. If only along the port side. Attached to the starboard gunwale.

Liking how it's coming together.... Good looking.

Thanks JB! --- Doubler for the console is a good idea. 1.5" should be enough to hold that console and side seat in place! (3/4" floor!)

GA_Boater - You do good things with "lipstick and mascara, Jim. The console seat will be nice storage, so a double win.

Maybe you should make the clamshell easily removable - Could make a good shield in case pirates attack.
Thanks GA! Ya been debating whether to leave it open underneath or add some much needed storage! Kids really want a back rest --- so that'll be in there as well!

Removable clamshell for pirate attacks... hadn't thought of that one! :)

dozerII - The design is looking real good, Jim, what did you add to the bottom of the Clam shell, it looks like pink foam?

Thanks Glen! Yup 1/2" pink foam. As soon as I added wood it was near impossible to bend. So I added the foam, and will just glue the vinyl to it and then staple it down the center where I added a 2 pieces of 1/2" ply about 3" wide from front to back. Just wanted it a bit thicker to give the clamshell a more substantial look given that it doesn't tuck under a dash pad like yours does.

Have great day fella's!

Jim

Re: 1960's Falcon Rebuild (New Title)

Had some time to chew on it since this am, if it were mine to layout, I'd make the front & back of the 1/2 bench solid, perhaps instead of a hatch in the seat, cut out an access under the console thru adjoining sides.

The console will give the opening some protection from the elements, and having a solid front & back panel would allow you to fab a U shaped conduit backrest, that could be slid on facing forward OR facing aft. In fact, having side & top hatch access might not be bad anyway, depending on what you stow?

No windshields for this rig, so facing aft, might offer some wind protection...

Ok... been chewin' on what your sayin' there JB.... Thank you for the suggestions... still running them around in the gerbil wheel in my noggin! :D

Leaning towards open under the seat and no storage... but I will have storage behind... got's a plan there... gonna be using part of the splashwell as a shelf. More to come on this later.

Rearward facing for the kiddo's has had some interesting affects on their ability to keep lunch (or dinner) down! :puke:
So... thinking that the seat back will just be hinged up or flopped down. More stretch out room for the admiral (or me!). Also trying!!! to keep the weight down on this boat... but also keeping it interesting and unique!

Thinking about have a flip up piece of plexi attached to the back of the seat to give a windshield for the admiral when she really needs it.

Hmmmm.... more to come!

Hang tight felllas... it Wednesday!

Nah, won't work, I use all my Kanuck flags as tarps when I'm running paint and epoxy so they are kinda nasty.

BUT! Here's a friendly wager for you buddy.....

CAN wins tomorrow and I will post a video of me , jasoutside, singing O Canada right here on this thread.

AND IF (WHEN) the US takes the game>>>>>>>>

JIM, INMOTION, SINGING THE STAR SPANGLED BANNER, VIDEO, POSTED ON THE ISLANDER THREAD.

YOU IN??? YOU GAME????
