LOL, I looked like a pig after crawling around under her half the friggin day...keep in mind I'm a big 'ol boy, but I think I shed 10 or 20 pounds just in cuss words alone :redface:

When I first messed with my bunks it was 90 sumthing degrees..muggy, florida summer..laying on the trailer fender...arms shaking..sweat dripping..why...why...WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I aint no featherweight either my friend..

85 sweet degrees, sunshine & boat-work, what more could one ask for? OK, Maybe more hours in a day.

Started mine by stripping some new paint to fix some flaws I missed originally

then applied some of that 'all metal' repair stuff, more like a bondo than jb weld, goes on smoothly with a bondo spreader or as today, with a plastic paint scrapper{thin/flexible}

Which lead me to attack the extra transom holes bored for who knows what, and some other areas that didn't sit well with me, now that she's back upright...re-painting in a day or so{rain tomorrow}

Two steps forward and ....

Anyways, proceeded to clean the inside, although at almost 50 yrs old, some stains were tougher than me today..oh well, what can ya do ya know...

Then used about a half a gallon of gluvit{little over} on the seams and rivits along with the entire inside of the transom... will use the rest in a day or two to leave a nice thick coating

Between all this fun with the boat, had some chores to attend to...

weeds were taking over the Missus's sitting area, and I drew the short straw{there was only one straw and she insisted I draw first}

here's a before shot

and a couple afterwards...she's happy, so all is good!

And had to add a shot of my helper, 'Bandit' 6 months old and already 60+ pounds...digs dirt very well, but always in the wrong spot.

His older brother 'Kato' couldn't of cared less{probably like you all and this post..lol}

Still need to 'set' the stepping stones, and that fence could use tending to as well...
Anyways, it was a enjoyable day...hope yours was as well!

Awesome day to work on the rig today, huh! As nice as it was that had to be hard to wreck that paint job that you already pretty much finished! Ouch!

Ah well, if you are going to do it you may as well do it right I suppose.

Nice work on the sitting area, personally I think your Starcraft makes a beautiful lawn ornament!

Looks like you have a bit of "perfectionism" going on the old girl

Nothing wrong with that as many of us will be keeping these Starcrafts the rest of our lives so it pays to do it right the first time.

Bandit looks like an awesome dog, german shepherd mix?

The boat is looking pretty good. Sorry you had to mess up all that paint work.
Nice looking dogs too. I lost my best friend a couple years ago. He went everywhere with me. I haven't been able to bring myself to get another one yet. His name was Chip. My 13 year old Chocolate Lab. I really miss him.
The yard work looks great too. I think my wife has that same straw.

Belated thanks guys...

Finally got around to getting the transom in...

Clamped the outer skin to the transom, just being safe while drilling the holes...
didn't want to chance 'Murphy' stopping by...

Sealed everything with 3M 5200...
Tow hook or tie down whatever it's called{lol}

Even the backing plate's...don't plan on re-doing this again on this ship...when it becomes that time, I'll be dead or looking for a bigger Sc

Outer transom board is almost ready, need to drill the holes for the middle knee brace...

LOL, the transom is the most ding/dent/wave free area of this tub...

Did get the final epoxy coating on the last two remaining deck sections, foam fun next.

And of course this being me, I ordered the wrong size drain tubes for the splash-well, I bought the inch & a quarter one's{not thinking again}, and that's another drill bit size I don't have, and, I'm not sure if I can make them work, as the original's I believe are 3 quarters and sit flush to the bottom{as they should} of the splash-well...decision time as to ordering and waiting or attempting to enlarge the skin holes and keep the lower hole edge in the same plane...

Sorry not much to report, which is ok as my tooth is still protesting and keeping me from wanting to talk much...

Any progress is good I guess...hope your all where you wanna be!

Hey Joe, the stuffs called 'all metal' by 'USC'...here's an ad quote...
"Premium aluminum filled body filler ideal for metal leveling or mending. Use for rust repair, over spot welds, and as a finish coat over all types of body fillers. All-Metal is the preferred body filler for restoration work and classic car repairs. Adheres great to metal and has the look and feel of lead. Includes liquid reactor hardener. Made in USA."

This is experimental, as I have no idea how well it will hold up, it has worked fine on my Ford PU{3 yrs & counting now}...anyways...

Here's a look...started here...

Sanded to the metal{not sure if required, but I would think it's best}

Spread it on...it has a very fast working time window, you can see where it started to kick in the 'blob' in the center...better to mix smaller batches...

Sanded lightly with 80 grit on my orbital, then by hand with 150 grit...

Sanding to the metal was a wise choice. With a patch that big and thin the filler needs something to bite on.
