Good news!!!

Floor and vinyl will be arriving Friday or Tuesday!!! Thus, allowing the project to really move forward.

Thanks Glen for the contact... they were brilliant and less expensive to boot!!!

Better shipping cost? It has to be better than two hundred Loonies.

Yup... $40 bucks... it was gonna cost prolly $25 bucks in gas round trip plus half a day away from the family... so the decision was an easy one!

Went with sandstone for the floor and a similar color for the seat bottoms and backs. The vinyl for the seats and back is the "perforated" type. Should go well with all the woodwork inside.

Re: 1964 Starcraft Jet - Rebuild

Had one of those strange "moments" this evening. So the Admiral came out to have her dinner and a glass of wine in the garage whilst I was sanding the dash pad. It was kinda strange ya know... a bitter sweet moment if you will. I know this boat won't be staying with me for all that much longer... but it is as if I want it to... sorta dragging it out a bit but not??!!!

So after chatting with the Admiral for a bit, I decided that despite this fact, it will be going to a great home. Someone I have known personally for 15 years. Someone I know who is going to take really good care of her! I think sometimes, it is incredibly hard to let go of things... especially when a "part" of you is in it. It is a very strange thing. It just sort of came over me. Wave like if you will. Out of the blue. Unexpected. The older I get I realize more and more how little I truly know and how much more I want to know.

But I digress...... philosophizing over for this evening!

So here is where we are at --- a situation wrap-up or SITWRAP:

Dash pad is cut and sanded to a near done status:

Inside top pieces screwed in place temporarily... need them in place to fit everything else.

So... ya it wasn't the most productive boat building weekend as hoped.... but it was a great weekend. This week truly was a catch-up week at work. So now that things are settling down, it is time to get back to business and get some work done in the shop. Floor hopefully will arrive tomorrow. If not, I will move forward without it as best as I can.

Have a great evening fella's. Enjoy.

Jim

Sounds like you are putting as much or more of yourself into this 1 then the last. Future owner will be lucky to get her

True, but you may drink wine during the send-off. The good stuff. :)

Thanks GA... always thought it was a waste of a perfectly good bottle of wine to break it over the bow...! Drinking it post launch seems like a perfectly civilized thing to do!!!

A good a reason to drink as any. If the new Jet owner (you're the flipper, so he must be the flippee) is a nice guy, he can bring the wine! :)

Re: 1964 Starcraft Jet - Rebuild

Floor is in!!!

Went down well... although, it was really tight for the glue... I ran out at the end and to be honest had to go light up under the bow where it will be sealed up anyway. But it is stuck down well to that point. Next time, I know to get to get an extra spray can.

Here is a fairly close up shot of the vinyl for the seat bottoms and backs... keep in mind that I will be creating seat "padded" areas if you will... this way there will be wood showing on the seat bottom and back for the front and back seats!

Next up is getting the splash well back installed and then I can actually build the structure for the front and back seats as well as the under bow bulk head.

Just gotta remember to do the wiring and pull the speedo cable as well as the steering cable before I get too far!

Wondering if anyone has a link to a wiring diagram... I had one printed off and have misplaced it. I will have a bilge, rear light, horn, bow light and LED lights... fairly simple really.
Have a great Saturday fella's.
