I was diggin' it till the valve cover. Not up to your usual standards. I think it would look cool if you just painted the whole valve cover that lighter shade. Glad you got your motor back.

I think your right. Gonna try that.

Tried it on the oil pan, but doesnt look good  either. Gonna repaint one single color.

But some of Picassos stuff look like crap to me. I dont think i can pass it off as modern art.

I think I will stick to the basics.

Very good day here in dallas, sun was in & out, temp. in 70s. Got up @ 6am, got my coffee and saw prerecorded show of biker build off to get me in the mood, if the coffee wasnt enough. I cleaned the engine with spirits to paint it, but now I need to clean the inside with soap. Yeah I know Im a$# backwards, should of cleaned all at once. But anyway... used my harbor freight tool to spray the engine with dish washing soap.

Then rinsed the heck out of it.

MAH008483.jpg

Dry it with the air gun and wiped some oil to prevent rust. Didnt have wd40.

I dont know if I told u guys but I had to grind my crank to .020 & my rods to .010.Had some deep nicks. But now its good. Installed the mains bearings and got it ready for the plasti gauge.

Now getting started on pistons. Using the old piston rings to clean the ring grooves.

MAH008541.jpg

Checked piston clearence and checked ring gap. All looking good.

Was gonna install the pistons and check other clearances but had visitors. So gonna wait, Monday.

Does it matter ? Bottom line is these sweet I/O's in a small Starcraft are WAY cool.....I want ONE !

Why don't they still make these rigs ? Not that I want a new one, I'd love an old model to rebuild and have Azlo and Alpheus the lime green engine chieftain guys build my engine.............. Sweet !
