Re: 1975 Starcraft 140 Evinrude OB -- Restoration IN PROGRESS FINALLY
Ok, believe it or not I use these cheapo filters and throw em away after each coat of paint.
I use this HF Regulator
I DO NOT have the swivel attachement if that's what it is attached to your gun. I have my regulator attached directly to the gun and then the filter directly to the regulator. Don't want to risk ANY impedance. You MUST make sure the regulator is working correctly. AIR FLOW is IMPERATIVE. From the Looks of the paint you have WAY to much volume of paint flow and the Fan might be incorrect as well. What you want is to adjust the volume so it just covers but not so much that it build up. It's like you have to make another pass to get that GOOD coverage. The fan is set by taking it to a point and then backing it off until it just starts to Open up big. If you're going to err in the beginng I'd err on the side of not having enuf paint coming out of the gun and having the paint just on the thin side. Get a Good working regulator, attach it directly to the gun. Bet you'll see a difference.
