That looks good. If you don't like the seems maybe you could sand them smooth and fill the cracks with pb, sand again.

Re: Floor fiberglass help.

Thanks PG, took your suggestion. Looks pretty good! Got two more coats on today and used every last bit of gelcoat we had. Also finished the dash panel. Also took a break nd went skeet shooting :D I'm so glad the sanding and grinding are mostly over! Tomorrow-- STarting the interior. Got a can of 3m super 90 for carpet and going to start coating all the non PT wood panels and hopefully getting them in the boat!! Have a few more electrical loose ends to tie up , but all seems to be going well!!

Re: Floor fiberglass help.

Thanks :D They're coming tonight once we get it a bit cleaner and some other stuff done... I'm waiting on some more vinyl that'll hopefully be here by monday, but if all goes well, We're going to take her out tomorrow night without much of an interior and just test eveyrthing and make sure we have no leaks ETC. There was a cut in the hull that we found last night... about 2 inches x 1/8" slit... it looked liek PO had stuffed it with a putty of sorts... I cut out as much as I could but it was really strong... so I put a piece of 1708 over it and then 5200 (fast cure) around teh edges and gelcoated the piece... that should keep water out right? I'm assumign teh putty paste stuff was like an epoxy putty or something??

I pretty sure if the cut was all the way thru the hull, That repair should be sanded and reglassed on the inside as well. Maybe someone else will chime in with some advice on that one.
Sounds like your movin right along and get us a vid of the splash, if possible. That would be cool.

Re: Floor fiberglass help.

PG, I think It wasn't quite all the way through, but I'm not sure... We'll find out  I really sealed the hell out of it. I'll definitely take pics and video.. it'll be at night so who knows how they'll turn out, but I'll have something and some pics later TN when we start making her look like a lady :)

f4m, it's for the ski locker.. it's basically storage.. See the white arrow. I'll have it in later TN and will have a pic of mine... it's teak, not carpet or anything.

Re: Floor fiberglass help.

Really dishearteneing and frustrating day... problem after problem... the teak in th eback of the ski locker broke so I wood glued it back together and put a layer of bi ax on bottom and then got the glove box in... worked on getting the dash and helm and found more issure.. dash is too thick have to sand away wood...
Tomorrow -- I literally won't sleep till I have the dash IN and the ski locker IN and maybe the side panels and some carpte ;)

Re: Floor fiberglass help.

Definitely true PG.. Thanks for the kind words.. Well, I planned on working from 6 onwards today but I had to go move my mattress and box spring ETC down to Philly before school starts... I left at 9.... and got back at, well, now... LONG day and an hour and a half trip home turned to 3... SO I just cut two panels and "measure twice and cut once" actually worked lol :D So tomorrow and sunday I have some classes to take during the day bright n early, so I won't be getting much work done till sunday night. I'm hoping, if all goes well, to work sunday nigt and monDAY then splash her monday night... but more likely tues. or weds... I have to start sewing my seat cushions  and order more vinyl... Hopefully by splash day I'll have the carpeted panels (I actually have to have two of tehm as they are structural) and my bench seats just so we have a place to sit...

Does resin bond to old teak? I could peal the bi ax right off today... I wood glued the pieces back together, but this piece has to be able to support a person... I'm thinking of just cutting it out in aluminum and making a backing plate, but I would really prefer to glass it if possible... any thoughts?

Afraid I don't know much about resin but I remember from general woodworking reading that teak is a very oily wood and extreme steps are necessary to even get glue to adhere to it. I don't recall what those steps are but if I can find them, I'll edit this post.

See if this helps http://www.woodweb.com/knowledge_base/Gluing_Teak.html

Re: Floor fiberglass help.

Wrapped up at 2 last night after such a productive idea. Scrapped the teak idea for the ski locker and made it out of carpet... Carpeted the gunwales. 3m super 90 is AWESOME! I can;t talk enough about how cool that stuff was. I felt like spider man shooting it all over the place lol. Cut and measured all carpet and some vinyl. Installed the gunwale panels on the bottom. OK-- so what we did here to hide the screw heads was staple the bottom half, wrap the sides up, screw it in (ALL screws anywhere in the boat covered in 5200 fast cure) That is the first pic below. Then we carpeted the ski locker and installed that metal surrounding piece into the deck.. it was actually difficult and messy.

Thanks :D it took forever, but it was worth it. It is LOUD.

More pics to come tonight. We might try to splash her today and then finish up working over the next few days!! We have a few more panels to install. Everything was covered in poly -- I know it will get brittle and crack over time but it was all we had to treat the wood and $$ doesn't permit epoxy... they'll also all be covered in rubber backed marine carpet or vinyl... I installed the compass and 4 other panels last night and some carpet in the bow. After the (hopeful) splash today, it's time for the bench seats, more bow carpet, and 3 more panels. one is teh little door to the battery compartemnt and the other two are velcroed knee panels that come off for storage. Soon we'll have to start sewing the cushions and then we'll be done for the season
