Very retro Charlie. Apart from looking the part, what's the bow furniture actually for?

Thanks for all the compliments guys. Its amazing what a big dummy with a menards less than a mile away can do. LOL..

Looks great! I'll bring my teak over....

Hey Dave! Haven't heard from ya, those slave divers work ya too hard.

Paint looks great, and so does the teak! Great job on those topsides man :D.

Ohh hey we have matching stripes now too ;)!

Your stripes look great

I'm not 100% sure. I guess something to walk or crawl out on.

Looking good Charlie! Now when your operating your ground tackle you'll have something to hold onto and a place to lay your anchor without chipping paint.

Ah-ha! So THAT'S what it's for, kind of on the fore deck anchor well! :)

Re: 1978 Starcraft Holiday 18 Rebirth

Yesterday I got the windshield set in place complete with new weather stripping under it, I havent bolted it down yet, may need to do a little adjusting before all is said and done. So far today I sanded down the seams in the floor, gave them a quick slathering of liquid nails to smooth things out and rolled on a coat of my poly-rubber floor sealer down. Probably will be it for today, I have a date to do a little fishing after dark tonight with the FIL for some trout. Hang a lantern off the side, drop some lines and crack a beer (hard fishing).

Now that's my kind of fishing. In my (limited) experience trout commit suicide when there's beer involved! :p :D

PS: Boat looks fantastic with the windscreen in place. Nice work Charlie!

Looking very good Charlie, it is going to be nice when she is done. What did you use for the seal under the windshield?

Hey, your boat is almost identical to mine but 18 feet rather than my 14. You have my boats bigger brother.

Sorry to disappoint you chrisp but my Islander is 22 feet not 18. Unless you are talking about the one that I am going to go and look at soon, that is as long as it has not been sold.:D

Thanks Kelly. For the seal I used a foam rubber weather stripping.

Re: 1978 Starcraft Holiday 18 Rebirth

Man, Ive been slacking! Havent stopped by to update in weeks!

Interior, interior, interior........

Vinyl is down on the floor, side panels are in and working on the dash area now. Was pretty happy with the flooring install, the Nautolex was easy to work with. Only place I had an issue was way up in the front I couldnt get it to lay down flat going up the side wall with all the ribs, not loosing sleep over it cause there will just be a pile of life jackets and other gear stashed up there anyways. My main goal was to have the vinyl go up the side walls a few inches so the boat can be hosed out to the bilge.

I went back to your first post in the thread, Charlie. What a change! Won't be long now. I'm liking the Nautolex more and more.

Interior is looking sharp Charlie I like what you did in the bow My old vinyl was just kind of stuck at the top making sort of a tent in there holes in the middle turned it into a perfect nest for mice, raccoons, bears etc.. Nice work

Interior looks great! (well except for that whole vinyl in the bow thing. I think I wouldn't have stuck with paint on that :p:p) I'm still very happy with my vinyl and I'm sure you will also. However, the whole "hosing it out" thing didn't work out real well for my last week. A light scrub brush was still required. No biggie though and still better than carpet!
