Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild

Well, very sad news today. Last night one of our grandmas (sis in law mother) had a stroke. She's doing ok but still in the ER. She's a super cool woman, very sad news for our family.

Boating postponed...

Dude... sorry to hear about that! Time to spend some time with her and your fam.

All the best.

PS - Boat really looks great!

Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild

Sorry to hear about the family life issues, Jas. In my thoughts, brother.

On the last update - W/S green tint and flat black are made for each other. Nice mods.

Remember when you said about painting the motor gasket black? That would break the white variations and the shade difference would be less noticeable since the white/white aren't next to each other. Same goes for the boat white and motor white, separation works to minimize the shading variance. My thoughts, anyway. Of course you know, just don't tell.

Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild

Thanks guys, no real change on grandma at the moment.

So we mostly hung around the place today so I got some more work on the SN.

Man, what a pain but I trimmed/tweeked/shimmed till all the hatch covers were installed and laying were they should...

I still have to seal up the edges I shaved though.

These "T" hinges really finish off nicely, and make for a very clean/sharp look. But they were kind of a pain to install. Surface hinges would have been way easier. All the same, it's excellent to finally have a deck to walk around on!

Installed the baitwell gasket...

...and the fish box gasket too...

Seat snaps and cushions installed, super nice!

Side note: these seat cushions were freebies actually. See, the dealer I bought the seat/cushions/pedestals for the Islander made some sort of mistake so he sent me a whole new set. Yup, seats/pedestals/cushions, no charge. Super awesome guy and big money saved there!

Hoping for the best and a speedy recovery for SIL's Grandma, there's always another day for boating.

On the SN - Looking good, looks like all the pieces are falling into place quickly if not easily.

Thanks for the well wishes and prayers gentlemen:)

So, we are still in Sea Trial mode on this Sea Nymph. First trial, float and run, big success!

This morning I thought Ethan, Ryan and I would head out and check fishability;):D

Catch ya later!

Excellent, best of luck landing some from the SN, and giving the livewell a thorough test drive ;)

Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild

OK guys, had an excellent day:D

I started the day working on the boat. I sanded down and cleaned up the engine cover then brought it back to regular Rustoleum white. Here's a couple of alternate ways of sticking decals...

I thought this way might be kinda cool...

Ah, we'll see. That off white background on the sticker may still bug me....

Anyway...

Re: 1980 Sea Nymph SS 165 Rebuild

I did stick on some other decals though. I ordered up a pair of these...

I put the other one over here...
P1090323.jpg

Then I stuck on a pair of these Sea Nymph decals on the consoles...

Then I riveted in the capacity over here which covered up those remaining two holes in the gunwale...

Boating with animal crackers, anything better?

This rig has lots of room to stretch out. I can tell already this is going to be a really great fishing rig...
