JP - you're putting some good color together. Seats match up great.

It'd look better to be a deeper shade of blue, IMHO

Re: 1982 AMF crestliner got it for free

I got the boat all painted! i got two coats on and it would look better with maybe a another or two more coats but i wont have the money for a few weeks to buy more paint and i think it looks good! it doesnt look perfect when your a foot away but it looks good and it looks really good when you stand back about 5 or so feet! im hopefully putting it back on the trailer on Wednesday!!! If you guys notice i didnt paint the whole back of the boat, i did that to save paint and because there will be a piece of wood going back on there that their previously was.

If you want it to last awhile seal it with epoxy resin.....what grade plywood is that? Exterior/marine grade or something like starboard would be advisible for that job.

Epoxy resin is real expensive I would think that for that you could use the stuff walmart has since you get a discount anyway. If it was me I would buy one bag of the chop stranded fiberglass and two bags of the woven that they have and seal it with that. Unless you are planning on glassing your floors then look online for resin and rolls of mat.

Re: 1982 AMF crestliner got it for free

Others will disagree with me but I omitted that outside wooden transom piece from both my restores. I do not feel it serves any purpose. You do not see that piece on newer aluminum boats or any fiberglass boats. Even if you seal it very well, it seems the forces of the motor will eventually compress it a bit in the middle which flares the edges of the plywood allowing water to penetrate, rot, and leak. I'd suggest you leave it off, or if you feel you need something there, go with a composite material or a piece of aluminum.

US Composites has the best price on the Epoxy but if you do not want to wait for it and you have a West Marine you could buy the west system also, but it does cost a lot more unless you do a price match with them from online. You have gone this far and put this much time into it i would order the epoxy and wait for it. it will last you for your next rebuild as well since the shelf life is considerably longer than poly resin and any other wood that you may end up installing for neat little add ons you will be able to use it as well. just my .0000001 cents worth .

Looks good JP, nice job
