Re: 87 Four Winns 210 Horizon resto

GB I posted my comments on your thread and I'm glad the pics gave you some ideas!
Instead of using pl to bond the wood I put csm and resin between them for the glue :)

Nemo drain/limber holes are a good idea so water cant sit along your stringers and bulks leading to what we are all doing now....if only the manufacture would have done that and better glass work....but that takes time and hurts their profits....
When you do your holes keep them low and build up some mat and resin in front of them to make a ramp so the water flows out easily.
Thanks for the thumbs up on the work :D

I thought to use some 1"scedule 40 pvc cut in half! whatcha think?

I just cut 1" pieces so I could seal them up well....just a few pieces of csm or scraps layered up or some PB to ease into the pipe....anything that gets the water into the pipe and out of the boat!

MAN this rocks! I love seeing someone fixing up the older stuff instead of just junking it, even if you could have bought a newer one for what you will have in it. After having two (horribly) failed boat resto attempts, I really enjoy seeing someone accomplish and finish. Makes me REALLY wish I was back in the states finishing up my '90 200H or working on one of my Fox Mustangs! Oh well........ Keep up the kick *** work, and lets see those pics!

I don't really think you coulda bought a better... new 5.7 merc, four winns, teak swim platform.. She is a sweet rig.. These are boats. We always got more in em than they are worth.. It's the price of playing with such toys... Cut your labor out and I don't think you are into it very deep at all

I agree with you Joshua...but you know...there are those amongst us that would disagree with fixing anything "this old" or "needing this much work". Some prefer to junk it and buy newer, bigger, better, faster, more expensive...etc.

So we got 1 day of work done on the boat. The below deck glass is done and the fuel tank locker is complete. The tank is going to need some cleaning up and painted with Gulvit. The ski locker just needs some 4oz cloth to finish it. Here's some pics

here are the drains for under the ski locker and fuel tank they exit into the bilge

close up of the pb amd csm ramp to the tubes sorry a bit blurry

looking under ski locker, dug out a path in the foam so water can get to the drains
Four Winns in their infinite wisdom never closed in the front of the ski locker so the foam was exposed at the bow end....well that's fixed!

I will be so happy once the floor is in and gel coated. Fuel tank, foam (rigid insulation cut to fit) and we are ready to set the floor. Speaking of the floor, it is already cut to fit with the bottom side glassed. This project is really coming along nicely, wont be long now.... Ahhh I can almost smell the salt air.
