I would love to know what boats with pics have been bought for $2000 or less......say within the past 18 months. I dont mean bought then restored or bought "fixed" up but more or less water worthy ;) Im curious to see what I could have been bought for the money. :)

Im curious to see this as well. There are some decent looking boats on ebay, recently, around the $2k mark but the problem is most of us want to add something here or change something there and before you know it, you have doubled the money you just paid for the boat.

Re: Boating for less than $2000

got my whole setup for 200 bucks....not perfect, but was "water worthy"...wouldn't have made it far after I found out the fuel pump cover had a crack in it....but it did fire right up.

Right place, right time I guess. Probably not too common to find a deal like mine.

This was purchased last year for $950. Took it out a week later, no "restoration"....only cleaned it up, installed new plugs, changed lower unit oil, installed fuel/water separator filter, and new gas lines.

This was the night I got it home:

This is a week later, heading out to the lake.....cleaned up and some maintenance done:

Re: Boating for less than $2000

This is my previous boat that my nephew owns now. I bought it for $800.00 about 7 years ago. It was almost seaworthy. All I did was change the impeller, fluids, and carb rebuild kit. I put some Lowes indoor/outdoor carpet in it, and some cheap seats I bought online. It still is a great boat. I was offered $2000.oo for it, but gave it to my nephew and his family for $500.oo so it stays in the family. It is a 73 Gulfstream 18' with the Mercruiser Inline 6.

Paid 2000 for it, he was asking 2500. came with a super nice bow mounted trolling motor and a 2003 25hp johnson with excellent compression.

So far all of the boats... i have seen ....I would be super happy with at those prices.... so maybe I have set my sights and expectations too low.

Re: Boating for less than $2000

my last boat was a 26' carver cruiser....

$500 for the boat
$500 for the trailer, outdrive, transom assy, a fridge, and various other items salvaged off a junk boat
$500 for a mercruiser 260
$400 for assorted other stuff
bout a month of work and I'm in the 2k club....
Latest boat (in sig) rings up at just under 4k but I sold the carver for $5500 sooooooo If I figure the $3500 profit from the carver I figure I'm even further into the club.... Of course I can't afford to pay myself more than about 25 cents an hour LOL

There are a lot of nice, seaworthy boats out there in the 2000-3000 range. There's also a lot of junk in that price range so you really have to watch out.

Didn't have an interior but you could have done a floor replacement and put some lower end seats in it and been in it for well under the $2k mark.

Re: Boating for less than $2000

If I were at home to do the work of swapping engines and going to pick it up, I could be in the boat in my sig for less than $2k. Since I had to pay someone to retrieve it for me, and am paying someone to rebuild the 5.8 and service the outdrive...well...that figure went out the window. So can I get an "almost" or maybe a "coulda' been" under $2k?
