I'm going to plan to go out on Sunday- weather permitting. Maybe I'll see you guys out there.

Looks like we will be out weather permitting as well. Probably make it down and get the boat out around 3pm or so. We will look for you guys out there!

We will be monitoring 9 and 16 and will try and catch up with you guys on Sunday!

Hey when I have a cold I usually feel much better outside. Two weeks ago I was feeling really lousy with a head cold but the lawn still had to be mowed. So I did it, and that turned out to be the only time all day when I could actually breathe! Sometimes rest isn't what's best. Good luck.

I think it would be nice to see if we can organize a fall foliage cruise. The water is usually pretty calm and it is usually a very pretty sight to see all the colors reflected in the water. A couple of boats is all we need if they don't mind hauling extra people. Or we can have a bunch of boats all trying to stay together. Any thoughts?

Sounds like a fantastic idea SuperNova!.

My wife and I can't wait to get out as much as possible as the leaves change. I love this time of year. Much less traffic, no jet skis or skiers or tubers to watch out for. Cool weather, I love it!

Sounds like a great idea and we would love to join in on this outing if we can make it. We are on vacation the last week of the month. October 24th to October 31st so that ties up two weekends. Is the beginning of November to late? Like maybe the first weekend?

You said it yourself- the nice days are valuable. You need to do 2 simple things:
- bag the dinner. Hey, you're sick!
- forget about how bad you feel and take the boat out. I guarantee you'll feel 100% better.

Yup. I think it'll be foggy in the AM but they're saying it will burn off my noon. I don't plan to go far- maybe around Garrett Island or over to Turkey Point- not sure.

It's our first season. Well, we made our first trip a few weeks ago to Havre De Grace and puttered around to the beach across from Battery Island and then motored up to the sand bar around Carpenter Point (I think, I wasn't counting coves).

Point is we had a great time out there! swimming and chatting with a couple beers and lunch.

We are thinking about taking 12 gallons of fuel and launching from Elkneck S.P. and cruising to the head of the bay tomorrow for lunch on the water! So far the weather looks great! But FIRST, we are going to Breakfast on the M/C to NewHolland, never been there so we're meeting some friends for the guided tour into "Amish Paradise"

You guys missed another nice day!
Yeah, it was a little breezy but there wasn't any whitecaps in the Bay above Turkey point because the wind was from the west- pretty much straight down the Susquehanna, which DID have some small whitecaps due to the long fetch. I ran around between HdG and Furnace Bay for awhile, then had lunch right in front of the Concord Point Lighthouse.
I tried 'ya 3 times Brandon, twice on 09 and once on 16. I figured you didn't make it out. I had to leave about 4:30.

"Winter Dream" is all fixed. Transmission works A-OK, but now I've got a big bill to pay.....and almost no gas in the tanks. Hopefully I'll be able to put in enough for 1/4 tanks soon. I also unhooked my generator to change the impeller, which is toast. I think that's why I had so many problems with it this year.

BTW- for anyone buying gas at my marina- they now CLOSE the fuel dock at NOON every day!! It's the citys lame attempt to save money- by inconveniencing the customers.....DOH!

Glad you guys got out and enjoyed it. We ended up at my mom's house instead of the restaurant, my little nephew was sick. We had a good time, but man, I'm still beat.
Also glad Winter Dream's new transmission is good to go.

I am going to try and not winterize TAN until November. We'll see. I'm envious of you guys!

Glad that you made it out and had a great time and that "Winter Dream" is all fixed up and running good! We did enjoy the time out this afternoon and it was a beautiful day indeed. My wife was a little cold because of the breeze.

We just got a little bit later start than I wanted too. I didn't think that my parents would be down this weekend but they ended up being there so we spent a little time trying to catch up with them before heading out on the boat for a little bit.

I was hoping to catch you before you had to leave for the day but I guessed that we just missed each other. Thanks for trying to contact us though. One of these days we will hook up, hopefully sooner than later. I was starting to wonder if my radio wasn't working but then I answered a "radio call" from another boat that heard me fine.

It looks like I won't make it down for another couple of weeks. This job is driving me crazy with weekends and overtime so I am really looking for a new one. I would like to make it down to the bay more often and work is just getting in the way.

Hey everyone! Just wondering if anyone has anymore thoughts about the Fall Foliage cruise that Supernova had mentioned?

I am not trying to step on anyones toes here, but I thought I would suggest a date as this sounds like a lot of fun and we would really like to participate if possible!

I am not familiar with the best time frame to view the leaves so maybe the suggestion I made of 11/1 will not work.

Just wondering if we want to start setting up a date and time so everyone can plan thier schedules accordingly. Maybe we can also start getting a count of people and boats that would like to participate.

Maybe you guys with more experience can suggest a good float plan for the best areas of viewing.

Like I said, not trying to take over, or step on anyones toes, as this wasn't my suggestion. I just think that it sounds like alot of fun and would hate to see it slip through the cracks. I will be glad to help in the planning however I can though.

Weather permitting, we are planning on going out for the next 4 Sundays, so we are game for any date between now and then. I am going to winterize 11/8.

Here's a map showing the historical timing for peak colors.
Looks like the upper Chesapeake is late October.

I'll throw out Sunday October 25, with a 'rain date' of Saturday October 31.
I think for maximum viewing pleasure we need a bright sunny day.
I also think mornings are better for this kind of thing.

Thoughts?
