Today's meet with smashed came to a halt. Waves were huge wind was forecasted at 14mph. It looked a good 18-20mph winds so we did not launch. We drove over the Marine parkway bridge for a little pier fishing, no bite at all. We then drove to breezy point but we were not allowed in due to a requirement of a 4x4 permit at the rate of $50 per season (rip off) come on really a 4x4 permit!!?? I understand you can't get through the sand on 2 wheel drive but charging just to drive through. BS I might pay 50 next year just to see if it will be worth going there for a picnic on the beach or something.

Very nice day today, unfortunately wasn't good for boating. Even one foot waves can make it hard to launch. But the winds were what made us change our minds - too strong to provide a comfortable day on the water.
No worries, the boating season is not over!

I had nicely packed my motors, the SD430 and a cooler full of ice in my sedan plus all the accessories. It is ready for another trip or two on the water this week.

Very nice day today, unfortunately wasn't good for boating. Even one foot waves can make it hard to launch. But the winds were what made us change our minds - too strong to provide a comfortable day on the water.
No worries, the boating season is not over!

I had nicely packed my motors, the SD430 and a cooler full of ice in my sedan plus all the accessories. It is ready for another trip or two on the water this week.

Anyone getting out this weekend? (Sunday, lol). That will likely be my last free day until first week of October (7th or so). If no one has any plans, I will likely wait til then for my next launch. I hate that the Summer ran out on us just when we were getting up a good head of steam! Though I am very glad to have made new forum/ boating friends . The way the year is flying, April will roll back around soon enough, and then you guys will, weather permitting.. get to see what Jamaica bay can really be like!!!

looks like this year might be done for me. Smashed let me borrow his hand pump and valve tool so i can check my boat. Looks like no leaks at all. I had it pumped up high pressure for 2 days and its just as hard as before. So now i can definitely say the cold water made my tubes expand. New rule: hand pump on board for April and may to top off. As for the winter season, i will be opening up the piggy bank for the electric pump, wetsuit and ankle high boots (for early and late parts of the season when i don't want to get wet. Will be mounting my elite anchor system. Might hold off on the command center until i find a good way to mount the transducer. My goal set up time will be 15 minutes and 30 breakdown including boat wipedown. Good luck everyone god speed. I will create a thread OFF SEASON ACTIVITIES. This will help us pass the holiday season and prep us for inflata boats palooza

Yep, tomorrow isn't good. It was good this morning, but very early morning, like 5-6 am. At 9-10 am winds were forecasted to pick up speed and I decided that 2 hours of fishing wasn't going to be enough, so didn't go at all. Moreover, as my motor is behaving I didn't want to risk getting stranded 1 mile from the shore.
Season ain't over for me though. I won't be scared by low temperatures, or so I think for now. Calm and sunny is good enough for me for a fishing morning. So Sinistre, we can plan something in 2-3 weekends from now. Until then my weekends are busted by other plans/duties.

I am afraid that you may be right. However I have heard that bass and blues are more abundant in the cold water. The fluke season is over in 2 days... Hope at least the sea robins don't migrate, lol They are still fun!

Not sure what happened to the long(ish) post I did last night but so be it! Short of it is fish stay until early November unless storms chase them away. It is cold and wet (and unpredictable seas) but for the brave/ foolhardy the rewards can be immense. Problem is the fish are usually not in bay. They push bait out and south along Jersey Shoreline (smashed should set a table for them... Count me in on tge feast... Weather permitting! .

Vacation starts Friday and will be back Oct 7th after that... All bets are ON, lol.

Lol. @Smashed- Aruba bound my good man. Taking one o' those fancy aeroplanes thingamajigs (can you tell i'm getting loopy with anticipation?? Lol). @ Weimed. Hadn't even thought of it but I also have a set of waders and that is even better than my wet suit (which is called wet suit for a reason). Dry and warm trumps wet and warm almost every time (Wink), lol. Definitely looking forward to my return to the sea. Hopefully Mother Nature allows us a little water borne OT!!:joyous:

Maakx and Ihave been in contact. He has been playing it low key... He will succumb to the power of the Fun Side... muuhaaaa (insert diabolical laugh sound effect here<) Lol. Even if this season finishes on a low... Next Season (aka... April, lol) We REALLY SHOULD have a small fleet. Definitely a group of guys that we can all reach out to and say, "Hey, who's free Tomorrow.. Fri... etc>) and know we have fishing/ boating partners in crime. There is safety and fun in numbers!!!

Very nice... I'm sitting in the office with a HUUUUUUGGGGEEEEE Grin on my face! Gotta love it. We REALLY gotta have all the SIB owners out at the same time. I wish there were local sand bars like down in Florida! That would be a blast!!! The first boat.. is that the West Marine HPV 350??? If so I have to see it in person. It was one of my must see boats when I was shopping but never did get to see one before I bought. The motor looks like an older Merc? No? Can't get enough of this stuff. Different boats, motor combinations all with the same general purpose in mind. Have fun!

Maybe everyone can post a day/ days they will be free during the next 3-4 weeks and if there is a day when everyone is freee (Like for instance Columbus day Holiday....See where i'm going with this?? Lol.)

Now I almost wish I wasn't going on vacation!
