Hey everyone. Been a busy week at work. Got myself some more grinding discs and blades for my oscillating tool. Plan to put a couple more days in this weekend grinding away. Then I will vacuum out the hull and wipe up with acetone.
Question is I plan to get my first order in for fibreglass supplies. But not sure what I will need. I am going with the west epoxy system so just wondering on what materials and quantities would be a good start to get me going. I hope that I will have most of the grinding done this weekend so I can start cutting my transom and stringers out. Photos will be posted after the weekend of itchiness and cleanup.
Thanks all
Dezi
Another question for you fibreglass guys. Since I am using epoxy for this restore, I figure I won’t be going to the same thickness that was laid up from mfg using poly? Or am I? I know the transom will need to be since it’s an inboard outboard setup. But do the stringers need to be that thick with glass?
Oh ya. Is acetone ok for clean up when I’m done grinding?
Before any wood goes in you can simply use soap water and hose it out to the garboard drain. I also throw in some bleach to fight any mold issues.
Definitely use acetone prior to glassing. It's not cheap. @ 17.00 a gallon here.
