Wow!!! What a transformation, You ought to be proud. I feel overworked just going for the structual improvements and motor. You've done the whole nine yards. (a little Yankee football lingo there)

I still say that'd look good in your living room Tengals. A lot less chance that it'll get bunged up there, too. :D

thanks heaps guys. I am really proud of it. Mark if you pay for a ticket over here, i'll even let you drive it :p
Aldo, I believe about 4 weeks until she floats. I have to wire it up this week. Test and tune next week, finishing touches the week after that and hopefully on water the next week.
Here is a little better pic.
Re: Cruise Craft Restoration

BTW, I have recieved heaps of emails from around the world asking to post a high resolution pic of the finished surface. I will post a wet full picture of the boat I took yesterday for all to see. Just don't blame me if it takes a while to load. :)

cheers

Re: Cruise Craft Restoration

yeah, the model would be nice. I'm proud of the long thread. At times it's been this thread that has kept me going at the great pace I have been working at. There is a wealth of information here for all those newbie's.
Aldo, I'm going to do the wiring this week. I bought myself a 4 position switch, new cables, batt. boz and all the bits and peices. I have been given a deep cycle batt, for free, which i plan to run electronics off,how can I check if it's in good working order??

cheers

Battery - any big tyre store will test it for free on one of their fandangle gismos, they will try and sell you one but I know you are smarter that them, watch the test and 'see' the readings. Don't take them at their word. Or you could buy a hydrometer (very cheap) and do a basic test yourself.

Lost bits - Tony, Eildon Outboard Service. Carries a good range of new parts AND a lot of secondhand parts. More importantly, he knows his stuff. If he's got what you want, I can pick it up and bring it back to Melb. I'll be up there this weekend. Or try golden seal marine, the've got a good size wrecking yard.

Aldo

Re: Cruise Craft Restoration

Found the little buggers!
thank god. It's saved me alot of hassle. Thanks for the contacts Aldo. I know the guys at Golden Seal quite well, they didnt have the parts anyway, so im glad i found them. As with the battery, i'll do just like you said. What should I be looking for in those readings?

cheers

Re: Cruise Craft Restoration

I would do a few things different next time. Layout and sizes were not properly worked out. Firstly the issue with the steering helm. I also need to install my new sounder on the passenger side. Although I have clearance for full seat rotation, the gaps are not big enough. Same with the control box, just barely clears everything. Although the seats are wonderful, I believe they are 2 inches too wide for this boat. Anyway, im not taking them back that's for sure. They sure a comfy. Another pic of the control box installed with black shrouding.
Re: Cruise Craft Restoration

I've been a bad boy today, tengals. Took the day off and 'didaruna' with my neigbour and his boat, went shark fishing in westernport. Only problem was, the sharks were not co-operating. Only got a gernard and a couple of rock cod.

What file are you trying to upload?

Battery - The readings (hydrometer) on each cell should be even and around 1275 or better. The machine will do a load test, compare that to whatever the battery is rated at. What is the battery rating?

Aldo

Shame about the fishing!!! It happens sometimes, where in WP were you hunting those 'gummys'?
I was trying to upload a high res pic of the finished suface, file is too large.

I will go this weekend to test my battery out. Thanks heaps for the help on this one Aldo.

Cheers

Re: Cruise Craft Restoration

We had GPS marks for the area around crawfish rock, eagle rock and one of the northern channel beacons. Hit the water at 5.30am  . Launched at Warneet (my first time there), not a bad ramp except the channel isn't well marked. Fished for 6 hours, both sides of the low tide.

Back to work by 2pm :(

Aldo

Re: Cruise Craft Restoration

I know what you mean about the seats being 2" too wide. Mine are a bit tight too. Have to turn sideways to walk between them. Do you have enough space to swivel from front to rear while seated or can you just step over them to the front?

Damn! Tight or not they do look good.

Re: Cruise Craft Restoration

Aldo, warnett is the ramp I always launch from. Great in summer, but busy aound mid-day when I come back in. I have some great marks in that area for whiting. Let me know, i'll shoot em over to you when they start on the bite again.

Mark, I'm in the same position as you explained. I cannot stay seated and swivel fron to rear, but I'm 6'2 so maybe a smaller person could. And yes I also need to turn side-on to get between them onto the cockpit.

You can't win em' all

cheers
