Sounds like you're set up for a fun splash Kev, good luck to ya!:D

I will be testing out my 70hp in a few weeks, the guy said it fires up with a bump of the key.

They are some good motors, can't wait to see how they work out on these Starcrafts.:)

Out for a few hours today..Definitley would prefer TnT..ughhhhhh
Ran out on the river..never really opened her up to WOT.
Diane invited her friend and 2 kids along..MAN! I got over it.
Fished and screwed around. Went to make a move to a new fishing spot and WATER COMING IN from the transom.
Flipped on the bilge pump and HIGH TAILED it to the dock and had a chinese fire drill getting her out of the water.
Pulled the plug and probably 200 gallons poured from her..
Well, 100% a new transom is on the agenda.
Heres a few pics of the better half of the day.

Well for a $250 boat, + $100 to a mechanic, I'd still say ya had a pretty good day, guest w/ kids and all:facepalm:

Way better then working, or even working on an old boat $250:D I paid more for both & got less in each case...

Water flowing in from where Ya figure? Old bolt holes & exterior stuff screwed thru the AL skin?

Mental note to check for correct operation of the bilge pump...

All of the above plus a weak weak transom..I took a quick solo trip and naild the throttle for a second and saw the transom flex so no more of that!
What I now have on my list is pull the transom.
Fill small holes from previous installed crap with alum flash and JB weld
Gluvit the hell out the transom skin and the bottom inner seam
Install epoxied transom
Steal bilge pump off the Holiday for sale and add as back up to this one!
Get back on the water.

Hey, Kev. If you think 200 gal of water pulling the plug after running the pump back to the ramp do you think you might have wet foam too? Transom is easy, guess you can go from there. For $350 you are still doing real good.

I looked at your Holiday ad. You wisely left off the ditch surfing pics But that could be a selling feature showing the durability of SC tin boats.. LOL

W/out text for the pix, you might get lucky and they'll think it's a hurricane survivor & those pix are your recovery efforts:cool:

Which is partially true, just the trailer hitch come-off was the start of the 'Hurricane'

Cut some new dash panels today. Used birch, but am staining with minwax poly oak.lol
Maybe I should have bought oak instead of birch?

Nah, for the difference in price to buy oak ply instead of birch, you could live up to your moniker & buy a whole new stinkin' boat, motor & trailer:D And ya still would have had to buy urethane of some kind, and w/out stain pre-mixed into it, it isn't much more expensive, if any, anyway.

BTW: Nice shade, 'looks' very teak-like from my house:)

Ok it's How the Helllll question time..
The 8 or 10 bolts (4 or 5 each side, port and starboard) on the transom that through bolt the transom in...
Have you guys had to drill them out? Impact driver? cut off wheel from inside?
These things aren't freaking budging

I'd just cut them off from the inside and then punch them thru.
