Re: Need help with transom repair w/pics

I think those are 40 hp and my boat has a limit of 20 hp. The original paperwork from MFG say that my boat has a 35 hp limit but the state of PA issued a capacity tag to the PO that states 20 hp and Ohio says that they have to go by the existing capacity tag and can't change it. So I am stuck with a smaller motor. I have a Merc 9.8 for now till I get it in the water and see how well that pushes it. My boat is only 13'.

Change the decals...??? I ain't talkin...;)

I saw a guy one day at the lake and he had 25hp decals on this huge motor so I went over to talk to him and he told me that one of the lakes that he goes to has a 25 hp limit so he just changed the decals on his 115hp motor. I am a newbie and I could tell something wasn't right ...... I wonder how long he got away with it and if he ever got caught ... lol.

If he's not acting foolish, probably quite awhile. But if caught by DNR or F&Wildlife who ever 'chose' the 25hp limit, yikes, may or may not be dealt w/ severely.

Rare but any F&W violation can result in seizure of all related property, up to & including tow vehicle & trailer, plus all fishing gear, overnight in jail & fines:eek: No different then hunting out of season, without permit, & being over quantity/size limits. Yikes...... To some degree similar for overpowering & creating 'un-safe' conditions for you & those around you while underway.

When I left KY for the west coast, the F&W/DNR had a great big auction every year. Some junk, some ok & some really good stuff. Prices all over the place, up to almost full NEW retail. Something something about people, money, fool, & parted:D

Have a great mid-week & getting thru to the weekend

Has anyone put in carpet with snaps or velcro? I would like to be able to take the carpet out to clean but I am not sure how to fasten it. I would think that the carpet would be loose under your feet if it wasn't glued in.

Nope .... no clay yet. I have to look up the tracking number and see where it is. Should be here any day now.

What kind of velcro do you have to use on the carpet? I would think it would have to be stronger then the stuff from the craft store. How do you attach the velcro to the carpet? Does it just stick on or does it have to be sewn on?

Industrial Velcro get it at Lowe's. Stitch to carpet, glue to deck.

Thanks guys for the Birthday wishes. It's getting harder to get things done on the boat being a year older .... lol.

I ordered my clay from ebay and it came today. I am not sure how to use it and the instructions on the package are kind of fuzzy. Maybe one of you guys can understand the directions.

OK, let me see...hmmmm...on the front of the package it says JIUGUANG...something, something, something in chinese or mongol or cantonese, then something, something WAX...something something...I get the same from the backside of the package...Hope this is of some use...LOL

Actually a decent spray detailer like Meguiars or Mother's spray-on-wipe-off type is usually used as a lubricant, then you just lightly rub the clay bar into it... you can also use plain water, but it works better with one of the other products...you will begin to feel the difference as the lubricant dries up...work in a small area, about 2 foot by 2 foot at a time...the more you do it the more you will get a feel for it...start in an inconspicuos area, till you get the hang of it...it really is that easy to use...remember to check out the video that "wood" posted somewhere abouts...POST # 451...

I think I have identified the cause of the shipping delay. It was on a slow boat from ch!*@:D

That clay's blue would look fantastic on a 1960 Glastron FireFlite:cool:

Hope you get a chance to use the clay this weekend

I will probably only use half of the clay so if you PM me with an address I will send the other half to you for the FireFlite.

Re: Need help with transom repair w/pics

Thank you for the generous offer, but I meant that color of blue would look good on my FireFlite, but Red1 will stay Red. I am a big fan of that color blue. I am quite a way from needing any clay on 'any' of the projects. If you don't need it, let some one at the paint stage have the clay. Thank you again.

If I didn't paint my boat the color that it is then it would have been the color of that clay. I came real close to painting it that color a few times ..... I couldn't make up my mind ...lol.
