I was looking for a Lowrance LVR 250 but ended up getting one in Woodstock for $20 more then the US price without having to order it and pay ??? at the border. My bro-inlaw picked it up for me when he was there. Also was looking for a new FF/GPS but can't get that right now as I needed 2 new props first. Guess I'll have to wait untill there is more $$$ in the pot or I sell my other boat trailer which ever happens first. anyways Good to see you back Ken and no we didn't find ur stash of liquor while you were away :( Maybe next time mate

You need 2 new props ??? not repairable ??? I do some prop repairs, let me know. I also balance them as well after repair. I am passing Chatham twice tomorrow, let me know.
Glad to be back, even if it is for only a month before I have to go again !!!

Ken I have a new prop on the way as well as one being rebuilt BUT I also have the one on the boat that could be fixed it you want to give it a try. PM me and let me know your shedule. I just put my new antena on today and still have to find a good place to put VHF? The boat needs a lot of TLC but these old bones just don't work like they used to, I can only do a little at a time then suffer for a few days  LOL the joys of getting older  Maybe When I get a few good days in a row I can get a lot more done so I CAN get out on the water sooner then later.

Getting the trailer ready to take to the seasonal campground on Friday. Bad thing, the potential weather.....Good thing, we have heat in the trailer and will be dry. The fridge will be full of beer and we will have sat TV if we can not be outside.

Well, the Easter weekend provide better weather than was forecast, used a heatgun and got all the hull stripes off the Cavalier (there was 12 rows of them >.<) She looks WAAAAAAY better now. Put a coat of anti fouling paint on (VC-17) next is to take up the McGuires and do some polishing. It's all coming along. Anybody else get stuff done this weekend?

Re: Need more chatter in here people!

Hey JBF 1962 can you please come down here and paint the botom of my boat? I can't seem to do it very well because my back has gotten a lot worse  also I need someone who has a DRY place to do as it has rained sooooo much I might just float my boat to nearest shop and have it worked on there  I am getting to the stage where it is looking like I might never get her into the water this year as I can't get anything done on her  Is there anyone out there who can volunteer to fix her up for me
It would be nice to at least get 1 trip on her before I have to sell her for lack of use
(wife is getting on my case)

I get my new drives fitted in the next couple of weeks, only ordered them on the 12th Dec 2010...
Very exciting, no more heart in throat moments listening for snapping Volvo shafts every time I go for a run:D

Re: Need more chatter in here people!

Hi BSAFlash I hear that the weather over there has been as we say a little wet! We have some very good friends that live there but they want to get back to NZ with thier kids. My wife and I want to go traveling to Aus and are planing a trip in Feb next year. I am sure it will be as great as our friends say it. My wife is helping our friends make up a travel planner for us so we can maximize our trip and see everything there is to see in a 3-4 weeks time frame. I have a walking disabilty but I am sure that won't stop me from trying to do some fishing on the Great Barrier Reef. I so want catch some BIG fish as well as enjoy the time there. It will all depend on the cost of the fishing trip/licences if I can work it in. There has to be a way for me to do it as it is a lifetime dream of mine to go fishing there. Do you have a special (free) fishing licence for disabled people? Here all I need is my disabilty parking permit to exempt me from having to buy a fishing licence. Happy boating mate!

Re: Need more chatter in here people!

G'Day Boateric,

Good news, no license required in either QLD or NT for recreational fishing.
In NSW you will probably be exempt if you are on a licensed charter fishing trip (you need to ask) or pay Au$12 for 30 days.
3-4 weeks needs careful planning and seeing everything there is to see in that time is impossible. In WA and NT you can go for a full day sight seeing in a light plane (return picnic trip) and not leave the property you started in!

The place sounds real good to me but we might be on hold a little while just news that misses has breast cancer  we will have to wait and see what happens with her treatments.

Re: Need more chatter in here people!

G'Day Boateric,
Fortunately the treatment for breast cancer has come a long way in the last few years.
My Wife started the "Pink ribbon" campaigns in Australia for the National Breast Cancer Foundation many years ago. She was receiving information regularly on discoveries and improvements in treatments.
N.B.C.F. in Aust' are one of the very few charities (over here anyway) that actually spend the donations on research rather than the founders wages, resulting in some fantastic improvements in treatment. Seek the best Physicians, best treatment, don't cut corners, avoid stress and anger (hard I know but...) and pray. Hope all is well and we see you over here a little later than originally planned.

Thanks BSAFlash the wife and I are prying that things will work out as she SOOO wants to go to Auz. and the only thing that will derail that will be if she has stage 3 and has to go through kemo other then that "WE ARE COMING OVER THERE" next year. thanks for info and the pryers as they are always welcome around here.
