Where the rotor is pointing is not that much of an issue, so long as the firing order is correct. It pointing 180* out (or backwards) just means instead of it being on #1 compression, its on #1 exhaust stroke

Remove starboard valve cover, then rotate motor until #1 intake valve closes and piston comes to the top

If your engine has the original correct cam it should fire and run smooth with 13726548.
Your rotor is pointing how it should be. Do like Scott said using a piston stop to find TDC. Knock the center out of an old spark plug either cut a thread in the shell or weld a nut to the shell get a bolt with enough thread to touch the piston, turn the engine by hand in both directions to when the piston hits the bolt and mark the balancer in both directions. Split the distance and you will find the TDC. You can get it close having someone hold a piece of stif wire in the # 1hole while you are turning engine using the large bolt on the end of the crankshaft.

It ran great timing wise with wires the way I have them...until it started crapping out so I think the plug wires are correct...they also follow firing order on intake

One thing I don't understand is why the actual timing marks are on bottom when tdc and the yellow make shift marks are on top.

If the smug mark by the pin is zero, and the intake valve had closed prior to bringing it around the last 180* then looks great

The smudge is at the yellow mark on the damper I sent pic of. Not the actual stamped marks

I have ordered a piston stop tool however the videos I've watched don't show how deep to set the inner bolt...or were to have piston to start with

For the most part it doesn't matter
Remove all plugs, piston should be below TDC.
Install stop tool and rotate crank until it comes in contact. Mark damper location
Rotate crank in reverse rotation until until it contacts again. Mark damper location.

Center position between the 2 marks is TDC

Listing says the advance comes in earlier which is prob ok. I would worry about total advance dont think you want more than 30 total to keep detonation at bay
