Too bad that temp job did not work out. It would have been local only and the company drivers make 300 to 400 per day!
Home every evening...
Oh well,I guess it was too good to be true! Plus it would have been like walking on egg shells every day. They watch the drivers every move with 2 different computer systems in the trucks. If you stop anywhere for more than 3 minutes it would tell on you...
At least this gig the trucks have no Quallcom or Cadec or any tracking device.
They said as long as we are on time he does not care what we do.
Yes, all CATs have been fully electronically controlled since the late 90s and the C15 from day one. There are multiple horsepower and torque ratings that can be changed with software alone. It is the C15 engine,I assume these are computer controlled because the mechanic said he would plug in and turn the power and speed up on it.
Depending on how they set up the CAT (owner decision) there can be RPM limits in each individual gear. The reason there are RPM limits is to force an early upshift. This kinda forces the RPM in the next gear, and especially at cruise, hoping you end up in the sweet spot for fuel. They had them set at 67 mph and pulling a hill if you let the rpms get over 1700 it would set off an alarm to dispatch...
Those were some slow trucks to get a heavy load up through the gears
The 3.36 and the 10 speed are designed also to force Low RPM operation. You can lug this beast down to 1000 RPM before upshifting, and if she holds the gear anywhere above that leave the stick alone!!! You cannot hurt them, it's easier on you and that's how you get fuel economy. I would even try upshifting at the point where she hits 1000 RPM in the next hole if you are on relatively flat ground. As soon as you get into the next gear, hammer it and let her climb. Ask what rating he "flashes" her to and let me know what year model, and I'll find the exact horsepower curve and you'll see why I suggest this . . .The KW is a 10 speed OD with 3:36 rears.Maybe the Cat will pull good.
And the speed limiter is set at 98 mph.:eek
perfect tow vehicle !!!!!!!!....Where is the boat and trailer ????after my temp to perm job did not ever go perm, then they didn't hire anyone for that spot i had to go job hunting again!
Found a small family owned company after filling out more applications than i could remember.
They offered me a full time driving job with benefits.
So,going to give it a try. It will be hauling for west marine out of their new distribution center near me.
I thought it was ironic!...being i refuse to shop at west marine.
I start next week as soon as they get my truck decals done and i get moved into the new ride...

Congrats on the new job. That KW looks like a nice truck to me. I could think of worse things to drive all day long.
Great truck I like the T2;s good riding truck fairly easy to drive and most importantly RELIABLE. I did some time in a T2 I freaking hate the northeast in the winter it isn't so much the city roads as it is the parking lot. I dug my freaking bobtail out of a a central drop yard in Pa bobtailing in winter is the worst. The southeast and West Virginia are the freaking worst for snow though its like they refuse to salt or treat anything.
The only truck I would have over the T2 is what I mainly drove International Prostar I loved it 72" Skyrise sleeper all the storage you could ever want. I had mine pretty well decked out to. I quit driving when I lost my dedicated run went from $275.00 per day to .37 cpm at 2000 per week and only home once every 3 weeks. Loved my Prostar Power everything and all controls in the steering wheel.
OHHH and before you go to the Ta and spend money on a cooler I swear check out the thrift stores and Goodwill I bought a Coleman Powermate at a thrift store for $8.50 worked great still use it on the boat.
