I think she breathes pretty nicely. There is no sound like that of a 4 barrel opening up....Sweet.

Re: The R?surrection of the SeaGem

Thanks everyone, Yep when those secondaries kicked it it actually hurt my ears :D

Well, I don't think she is going to have a sea trial today :( . Just checked to sea report, the buoy 25 mi west of me shows 2.6 foot waves. The buoy 25 mi east is showing 3' exactly and NOAA has a small craft advisory in effect till tomorrow night.

And here I just finished tying leader lines on my new bobtails :(

Thanks Kev,

Yea my birthday sucks as usual :( Bad things always happen this year has been no different. Although not as bad as previous years thank God.

I drove to the ocean this morning, it didn't look that bad. Got home, went hooked up the trailer then..........I went to raise the drive. Heard the solenoids click but no motor turning the pump  . Cleaned all the contacts on the solenoids, still nothing, then I pulled the commutator plate off the motor. The hot side brush was toast and the bakalite was half burnt  I figured maybe the bakalite (spelling?????) would hold up so I scavenged a brush from a motor that had the same size carbon stick. I soldered the lead on and put the motor back together. When I tried it out it worked for a few seconds then started to smoke  The bakalite had given way and the brush was destroyed :(

BUT at least its better than last year when I wound up with 20 boiler violations cause my guys didn't glue a chimney joint, or the year before when I wound up in the hospital thinking I was having a heat attack only to come home and find my motorcycle kickstand sunk in the mud and tipped over trashing a new windshield and luggage case

EDIT- on a good note just finished watching a DVR recording of this weeks "The Good Guys" LMAO LOL Life is still good ;)

That engine is wild. You can tell that she's got some sick throttle response.

That thing probably got overdone. It would probably do pretty well on the track :)

Overkill Bill strikes again :D Funny with the proper carb + intake this engine has really come alive!!!!!

LOL Yep I bet she would do good on the track too... Words cannot describe what she truly sounds like, video from my cheap camera doesn't do it justice. She sounds like one of my dirt track engines from when I raced Modified.
I think all that porting work on the heads helped 200%

If I ever get tired of the boat I could stick her in one of my stump puller Jeeps........ OR maybe change the cam & look for another 69 RS/SS Camaro :D God I miss being 25 LOL

Cmon Bill...Not many 25 year olds appreciate a 69RS/SS!!!

But ya know...that would be a sweet set up in a 57 Chevy Apache pick up for a tow rig...

Just saying ;)

Re: The R?surrection of the SeaGem

Well the new commutator plate for the trim pump will be here Friday morning. I already checked the stator its fine, put the armature on a growler tested good too :D . So I get to spend $55.00 + tax to fix the pump instead of $249.99 for the motor and reservoir.

I find it amazing that the cost is so high for a motor and aluminum reservoir housing. It being for marine use is plain BS in this department for $250 they sould at least sell you the entire pump! But no, that will cost you $459.00 if you want it complete, this is pure price gouging !!!!!
The motor is whats called a drip proof motor, I have also dealt with commercial explosion proof motors, for $250 I can get a 1 1/2hp motor!!!!!

OK enough of my rant:redface: that's not what I came here for. Seeing that it looks like I am going to be running the boat right up untill the time there is too much snow on the ramp :

I got this convertible top for free, it was laying on the trailer that I got for free :D .

I ran her through my washing machine today, and tried her out for size. I have to do some hemming at the windshield and want to install new snaps. I am thinking of buying some zippers and clear UV resistant vinyl to make sides........

Any thoughts???

Re: The R?surrection of the SeaGem

Thanks HA, Thanks Sprint,

Well whoever said "A bad day of fishing is still better than a good day at work" has never met me :(

Yesterday we had 5 1/2' waves in the LI Sound. When I got to the ramp this morning I found all the channel buoys had been ripped out and were lying in the parking lot  Now that I know the channel I figured the heck with it. I dunk the boat park my truck hop in the boat and start motoring :).

The channel was not that bad, as I get near open water I see boats flying into the channel  S@ew it I'm going out anyway............. Well, I hit open waters and start bronco busting. When I checked the report this morning they were 1.6 every 4 seconds, just checked and by the time I hooked the truck, got my gear, got to the water, dunked her etc and the open waters the seas were 2.95' every 4 sec. and an 18mph head wind.

As a result I didn't do too much testing, I got up to 4500 for a little but I was too busy stearing to look at how fast I will check the gps later but it wasn't a good day for trying out for speed LOL. The water was just getting worse so I turned and came back in.

Tho finish off the day, after I pulled her back on land and was securing he and washing her down, my winch cable broke  right at the hook. Its a good thing I had a come-along in the truck to us to get me home.

EDIT- PS by the time I got back in the waves were 3.6' 4 seconds apart  I have to say though, she handled quite well. the only scary part is when I stopped for a bit the waves were crashing over the transom, Gunwales etc... and landing on the deck

You got the boat in the water, you went for a ride, nothing broke on the boat itself, no one had to tow you. I think you need to talk to our friend Cheapboatkev about what a real bad day is :p:D

LOL your right, BUT I did leave one thing out because of embarrassment  .

When I got back to the dock, there was a boat in the ramp on the right, so I pulled into the left one. Pulling in the guy on the dock motioned for the bow line , I shut down hop out we tie off and start chewing the fat. Get the truck, back in load the boat and start pulling out. Looking in my mirror I see the stern of the boat start moving funny then it starts leaning  I FORGOT TO RAISE THE DRIVE!!!! OMG

Luckily a saw it immediately and nothing got hurt, just a little paint scraped off the bottom off the skeg
