18R, Great thought, but just not true!

Elmer fudge, Sorry, its true, and I can prove it. Go to any Video rental and get any one of the tapes writen by people that left the Mormon church. Just because thats what there church is called means absolutly nothing. God made the rules, he designed the game so to speak. Follow the rules or get kicked out of the game.

God said it, I beleive it, that settles it.

I believe that Jesus IS real.

Unfortunatly, no matter how hard one tries to argue the point, the nay-sayers will always have something else to try and pull us down with.

To all you out there who believe, keep on believeing.
To all you who don't, open your eye's a little. Science can't explain everything.
My son is living proof of the power of prayer. He was born with a 8mm VSD in his heart, basicly, this is a hole between the ventracils, that Australia's top cardic surgeon said could not be fixed without surgury. To cut a long story short, it is healed, no surgury, the doctor could not believe what he saw.
My family have friends world wide, we setup a prayer chain for him, it worked.

Re: Was Jesus a real person?

You took half a sentence and reversed its meaning, 18R. Not at all what I meant or posted.

Many Churches believe that only those who believe as they do will avoid roasting in Hell for eternity.

Example: Left Church believes that all Right Church members are doomed to Hell. All Right Church members believe that all Left Church members are doomed to Hell. If they are both right all of them roast.

If all Churches that believe that about others are right there aint nobody going to heaven.

Re: Was Jesus a real person?

I have just one question on this topic.

Why is it so important for so many believers that others believe the same as they do?

I believe in what I do, and it really does not concern me what others believe. Why should it?

We have to agree to disagree on this subject LD.

My belief is that man said that God said it, with that being told over and over and over a couple of mellenium, what do you know? fiction is accepted as fact.
Todays churches are some of the most profitable businesses to be involved in, not much has really changed from the churches of the past

Its all to do with mans insatiable desire for greed and power, the weak must be devoured in mind body and soul.
The meek shall inherit the earth,....six feet deep.

Great news, lark, and I mean that most sincerely. I have no qualms believing that you experienced a miracle.

Thing is, I fear that to believe this as evidence that a prayer chain "worked" is to believe that any tragedy could have been averted if enough people had prayed for it, or just said the right words. Then you have to accept all the prayer chains that "don't work" as evidence of the lack of "power of prayer". I mean, didn't enough people pray for the West Virginia coal miners who survived last week's explosion only to die before help arrived? Or did they just not use the right words? Can we really manipulate God's will?

I believe it, that settles it-in my mind.

Does anyone want to take that belief away from me? I think so.

I'll die a BELIEVER.

I have stayed out of this thread, until now, because there are such strong feelings on what people believe, and anything said here will probably not change anyones mind, only further entrench their beliefs that they are the holder of truth.

However, I must respond to PW when he asks why does it matter what others believe? Well, it matters because I care about my friends.

How many have you told about iboats? Why did you tell them? Well, you can get great deals, learn all kinds of things from knowledgeable people, and make new friends. It was a good experience for you, and you want to share that experience with those you care about.

Why do I care about what others believe, and why do I share what I believe? Because I have found something that works. Because of my relationship with Jesus Christ, I have personally experienced many miracles - from healing of the body, to healing of the mind, to healing of the spirit. I have a sense of peace and joy, even in the middle of problems that I attribute to my Heavenly Maker. I have found something good, and I want to share it with those I care about. That is why I do it.

Re: Was Jesus a real person?

Yes, Jesus was on earth in human form and many forms of historical literature support his work. Some believe part of his work was urban legend, never quit trying to help them understand and accept our savior.

None believers or other religous types are ok with me.

I thank my God that he chose not to burden me of judging who will get to heaven, and he shall make the final decisions on the good and the bad and who can enter his kingdom in heaven. Jesus, his son, was sent to give us the message to love God and to love one another.

Divine birth, why a problem even humans can do that now. Why would one question that God who created everything not be able to give us a saviour, his son through divine birth. Not a problem for me.

What beats me is why the atheist Luigi would accuse a priest?
Why did he not accuse the pope if he intended to validate his case in point?
perhaps he bears a grudge against father Enrico.

We in the USA are not alone in having judges capable of poor judgement, so it seems.

JB – the analogy of the cone and religion comes from something a Buddhist monk said in reference to all of the contention among religions claiming to be the only “true” religion. They all aspire to paradise, heaven, eternal bliss of whatever kind, the point of the cone in the analogy.

I’m not sure what Buddhists believe, I think it might be reincarnation. If so, I guess they are stuck running in circles around the base of the cone?!?
:D

Re: Was Jesus a real person?

Im happy to see this thread is still alive and well and has not turned into a argument :) Aspeck that was a great post. The thing is its my belief that religion is a major problem for people who dont believe in God......Sound weird huh? Well this is how I see it, Religion is mans way of trying to reach God through our actions......its a flawed way. Relationship between Gods son Jesus is his way to reach us, perfect in every way. All I can say if you try to please God through actions you will always pale in comparison to the person who just wants a relationship. The problem is we as peole got into the mix and screwed everything up and others can look at it and go" nope thats not the way" Yes Im a firm believer the only way into heaven is through Jesus Christ and accepting his gift of salvation..........much of every thing else is just us trying to understand God and its about as possable as an ant understanding me. :D I will keep on trying though and every little morsel of wisdom I gleen from my studies seem to help me in becomeing more and more Christ-like. We can never be perfect but we can head in that direction.

Atheism IS a religion.

How can one NOT believe in something that is supposedly not true.

Enlightenment, but I'm not sure zactly what that means. I think they're running in a spiral up the cone.

Buddist to hot dog vendor: "Make me one with everything."
