    4.3 crankshaft/housing oil leak - next steps?

Doubt you are in imminent danger of loosing oil pressure unless you dont top off. Biggest issue is the bilge water will get oil contaminated (more than normal). You may want to search on here. one of the former mods Chris had a similar issue with a similar vintage 4.3 that I think ultimately...

    Engine Swap

Sounds like you are able to turn this project for the good. Wish I had done the remote filter when I repowered... Would agree on bellows and trim sensors if they look old. Would look at starter while in there. Fuel lines depending on age of the boat. Good time to do gimbal and water pump as...

    new engine overheats

Do some testing first - if you have the volume at the thermostat and there are no bubbles then there is no reason to split the drive again. You can also put a short section of clear hose in (home depot) to see if you are getting bubbles

    new engine overheats

Before taking it apart while its on the lake and temp is getting up in the 190 range- take the hose off the thermostat housing where water comes up from the drive. There is a merc procedure with more detail but basically should get 3-4 qts in 15 seconds. Would also look for bubbles indicating...

Should new gimble bearging gimbal? allow shaft to roll, pitch and yaw?

just stick it partway in and you can smack it up down left and right. if it slides right in to coupler no need to center it.

Should new gimble bearging gimbal? allow shaft to roll, pitch and yaw?

with a bar like that in there it should swivel/gimbal. Just notice he has it in a vise and that is a long bar so it takes some force especially to get it moving

    Hole shot

No you down in pitch to get on plane faster This will sacrifice some top end speed and if you go too low the engine will hit the rev limiter or go beyond the recommended max wot rpm

    What prop? I'm lost

Check stringers and transom for rot By drilling holes. I believe keyhole is same as merc and could swap drivetrain out of a merc 4.3 pretty easily Of you are handy. problem is interior work isn’t cheap unless you can do it yourself

    Hole shot

Lets back up a second ,in an earlier post you mentioned current 18”is only getting 3800 rpm at WOT? If that is accurate something is wrong as, while I wouldn’t expect a 4.3 to be a speed demon, in that boat wot if running correctly should be getting more rpm. so either tach is off or engine is...

    Stuck again

All good advice above heat first use some penetrating oil over a couple days. Heat apply some oil like Kroil as it cools down. Also would add some of the cheap hinge pins tools are chit. Might get a better tool Or I think a big Allen head fits in as well

No start after engine install. Need Help!!!

The two grey wires are bonded inside the harness, so only one is hitting t(e negative post of the coil. Attached is a wiring digram for your engine (assuming alpha version). so go through the troubleshooting after disconnecting the signal wire at the tach.

Help me choose a new prop for my Ski Ray inboard tournament boat

If u can have a prop shop repair the prop you have and get a baseline with it beyond a couple uses. Yes 4 blade and or lower pitch will give more hole shot. This depends on current wot rpm Vibration could be the prop, shaft, cutlass bearing or alignment as well as prop

No start after engine install. Need Help!!!

If y What Is the serial number of the engine ? Yes normally there are two wires on negative side of coil one to ignition module one to tach. But yours may be different hence the serial number If you ground the negative side of the coil you will kill the spark. You can always take the signal...

    What prop? I'm lost

Given you don’t have a prop I assume you just bought the boat? Personally Try a 19” 3 blade aluminum to rough in where your wot rpms will land. You can move up to stainless from there and tweak pitch You may be aware that Yamaha only sold sterndrives for a handful of years , parts are hard...
