Bravo drive is hard to shift into reverse?

Not all engines have the bravo shift plate assy on the stbd side, FYI

    Lack of power

Yes, but off a few degrees may not hurt too much but if the timing was off before the tune up now it could be more off, follow? Also, did you ensure the firing order is correct before/during/after the plug, wire, cap and rotor replacement? Best advice for you is to establish a known baseline...

alpha 1 gen 1 shift problems, need help

In the video about 3/4 through you mentioned some play and wonder if it's normal. It is not, there is a spec for amount of play in the shift shaft when locked in fwd gear. By the looks of the video there is way too much play. Only supposed to be max 12 degrees based on the index in the manual...

    Stingray mercruiser 3.0 engine problem

At this point you need to check all electrical connections and components. There is some great troubleshooting guides in the stickies at the top of the thread page. It's quite possible something mechanical has broken, however don't fret. You will need to try to start the engine in order to...

5.7L 1984, Rough idle at start up, then ok after a minute or so

Tach disconnected at the gauge or the coil? Could be an issue with the wire/harness that can be eliminated by disconnecting the gray lead for the tach at the coil And as stated, only use the latest style oem sensor in the distributor. Can't stress this enough, I've seen way too many issues...

Bravo drive is hard to shift into reverse?

Lower cable is for complete shifting, fwd/neu/rev Think of it as an extension of the cable from the remote. Remote cable attaches to the top of the shift plate on engine, lower cable attaches to bottom of shift plate at the engine and fits into the bellhousing and connects to the shift link arm...

    8.1 gi-b misfire / backfire

It may be that exact spec, all I'm saying is a fuel pressure of 40 psi vs 45 psi for high pressure would not be suspect for OP's issue. If in fact the psi is dropping severely when throttle is advanced then yes I would be suspect, however OP has not shared that info

    Lack of power

Engines that are severely out of time will still run, even if the firing order is incorrect they can at times still run with no load. Your speculation does not negate the fact that initial timing, proper timing advance and firing order must be correct in order for the engine to perform properly

Over heating 4.3, 1995 non vortec

Did you do just the pulleys and not the circ pump? Reason I ask is if your original motor (2004?) had a serpentine belt and the donor motor had a v-belt system the donor motor could have a unidirectional circ pump while the serpentine belt one had a bidirectional pump. New replacement circ pumps...

5.7L 1984, Rough idle at start up, then ok after a minute or so

Yes, but we fear they have been aftermarket. For the thunderbolt ignition sensor in the distributor the OEM (mercury/quicksilver) latest style fully potted three wire sensor is the only acceptable replacement. I will say if one is running an older style ignition module (large 5"×5"×2") box...

    Gimbal bearing.

@ericarr, reread post #27. Once you see the barb fitting on the inside of the gimbal housing (engine side, in the bilge) it will make sense how to remove the hose once you get the fitting off

    8.1 gi-b misfire / backfire

40 psi out the high pressure pump would not cause this much poor performance, maybe some top end faltering but OP says this thing idles poor and immediately backfires/pops. Possible injector issue, an 8.1 will run on four cylinders. Very poorly but still run. Have you done a cylinder drop...

    Volvo 5.0 Overheating

Great, but have you verified the gauge is reading correctly and verified the water is actually flowing sufficiently? "Seems fine" does not sound like a good report of operation

    Lack of power

You also have spark plugs, wires, and fuel filters. And you must also check and set the initial timing after replacing any tune up parts Since you are having runnabilty issues you should also inspect/adjust your carburetor and fuel supply system

1987 chaparral 5.7 rough idle and bog under a load

You should familiarize yourself with the proper carburetor setup procedures. No carburetor can be tuned to any engine on a bench, it must be finalized in the water with the engine running. You need to figure out, as said, if the engine is getting too much or too little fuel from the...

    Gimbal bearing.

Alpha style hose is held to the barb fitting on the aft (outside) side of the housing. OP claims to have a bravo 3 setup which is held in place as I described earlier. Side note, OP has a 1990 sea ray, bravo 3 did not enter the market until 1993

    8.1 gi-b misfire / backfire

Maybe, not super familiar with that engine but it's something to try. Most marine efi systems are not that complex, especially non EC engines. If a sensor reads out of range the ecm will still try to keep the engine running based on info from the other sensors. It won't run perfect but it'll get...

    Gimbal bearing.

Remove the barb clamp on the fwd side of the gimbal housing, two 1/4 - 20 bolts hold the barb fitting in place

    8.1 gi-b misfire / backfire

16mm/hg would be about 0.75in/hg which if is vacuum very low for idle. MAP is pressure so not sure if the scale is correct. That said, if you unplug the MAP sensor what happens. Would be good to see if TPS is reading correctly, set diacom to live data and see if the % throttle reads accordingly
