    Exactly. My point being that "running on 3 cylinders" might not be the same 1 cylinder not firing, tough to tell without actually testing

    Unless it isn't actually running on 3 cylinders (or misfiring on the same cylinder). A fuel related problem can make the engine run like crap and sound like it's missing.

    I think it's usually easier to rule out ignition problems first, even though they're less likely. When it's misbehaving throw a timing light on each lead. Not 100% but it will point you in the right direction. Also, hi @Eric 3.7LX Alpha 1! Haven't seen you around in a while!

    I bought another sunfish last fall. It's been sitting on the side of the house unnoticed until my idiot neighbor asked her about it. Same idiot neighbor that asked about our "new boat" last year--the junk hull I used for my motor swap that she didn't know about.

    Whenever you run out of time/space/money. My wife says we have too many boats, but I classify the kayaks as water toys and not boats. I'm losing the battle over the sunfish though "it's a SAILBOAT! It literally has BOAT in the name!"

    Turns out that the part in question was the anti siphon valve. Which is clearly a separate issue from the starting. The fuel pump sounds like a likely suspect for that...

    Yes... I would have advised against this boat for a number of reasons. Do you have a parts diagram showing the valve, or is it integral to the pump?

    Had high hopes for this. After hooking up and then trying to figure out why the engine wouldn't start (gee, maybe it's that new electrical connection, dumbass), it looks like the gauge somehow grounds out this wire. Wish I had a DSO to figure out what's going on, but was getting about 2.5v off...

    How about you confirm that it's an ignition problem? When it doesn't start throw a timing light on a lead or use a spark plug tester and see.

    I'll disagree with you on this one. I still haven't noticed a *huge* increase in power, although the v6 is much smoother and the power is effortless mid-range, I'm not usually looking to accelerate quickly from 25-40 knots. I want it down low, and I think the 200# weight penalty of the v6 hurts...

    What's wrong with the current motor? I would *highly* recommend against this swap. It is not easy and takes a decent amount of know how to accomplish. Whatever is wrong with your current setup, it would almost certainly be a better idea to fix what you have. Besides, you have a pretty rare beast...

    Again, the cranking 12v to the coil on your engine comes from the pur/yell wire off the slave solenoid.
