    Just put a manual jack plate on my old Whaler, what height should I start it at ?

    It is MANUAL (Rite-Hite 6" setback, 90 HP Evinrude 1968 hull 16'7"). More interested in improving overall performance vs out of the hole shot. What height should the center of prop hub be in relation to keel of boat, at least to start out with ? Continuous Wave board, they must be all out fishing.

    Proper compression testing. 3 questions.

    1) 4 or 5 cranks VS crank until compression peaks ? 2) All spark plugs pulled VS all other plugs in but disconnected ? 3) A good squirt of CRC/PB Blaster in each cylinder for lubrication. Will it alter the results ?

    Tapping a hole, threads stripped in hole.

    As recommended I am looking to ream out a stripped bolt hole and go one size up. BTW Evinrude tech favored heli-coils but I think it's overkill.     Torque wrench - can't fit one in there. Any ideas ?

    Trying to put my lower unit back on. 2 bolts can't get TW on. My guess is to go by feel with an open end wrench. Give it a good pull and when it's fighting you it's there.

    Carbs - proper removal of black plastic elbows ? - 87' 90HP

    Early production vs Late production - carbs - 1987 90 HP

    This is just a reference for future SEARCHs. If you have an ALUMINUM float chamber it is EARLY PRODUCTION. If you have a PLASTIC float chamber it is LATE PRODUCTION.
