    $8 Vinyl job

One very sun damaged dash pad plus one can of Dupli-Color Vinyl and Fabric paint. Turned out decent. Wasn't expecting a miracle because of the amount of damage to the vinyl, but the color match was perfect and it looks much better now. Before: After:

    Unexpected Christmas present

Wife surprised me with this one. She walked into Bass Pro and told the sales guy that her husband is an electronics geek and she wants to buy him something really nice. So she walked out with this. I was a little shocked opening it.

    Power steering assembly

I need to move the power steering assembly to get access to the oil monitor fitting and shift cable fitting. If I undo the clevis from the steering lever and remove the pivot bolts, will I be able to move the assembly enough with the steering cable still attached?

    U Joint Lubrication

Just checked the U Joints on my outdrive and they seem to be the Mallory brand with the plugs instead of Zerk fitting and the orange bands around the bottom of the caps. Since there's no grease fittings I'm assuming there's no maintenance on these and as long as there's no excessive play...

    Engine alignment issue

In the course of trying to get the engine aligned, I may have turned one side of the front mounts more than the other. The bar goes in and out with moderate resistance, but I would like to get it better. Is counting the threads on the mounts and making them equal an acceptable way to get back...

    Bell housing bushings

Any advise on how to get the bell housing bushings out of the later model gen 2? I can find the part numbers for the drivers and the shop manual only says "remove". I'm assuming GLM 87562 is the correct replacement...

    Broken Lube Monitor fitting

In the process of replacing the bellows I broke the through hull fitting for the drive lube monitor. I see no way of replacing it short of pulling the engine to get the inside of the fitting. I am just going to disable it for now. I was thinking of filling the fitting with epoxy or JB weld...

Gen 2 Bellows redo. Cracked oil monitor fitting-*PIX*

Does the shift cable need to be replaced with changing the bellows? I see in the Merc manual that the "shift cable should be replaced as an assembly only". Does this mean that the cable must be put back assembled/whole/new? Or, just not to try to replace individual pieces of the cable...

    Repair hull gelcoat chip

Got a chip about the size of a quarter on the rear corner of my boat. My plan is to clean up the edges a little with a dremel, sand, clean w/ acetone, and use Marine-Tex to patch it up. Sound like a decent plan or is there a better method to fix something like this?

    Removing vinyl decals

The vinyl graphics/strips on my 2001 Maxum have seen better days. I'm thinking about removing them all and just replacing the ones around the painted areas. Has anyone used an eraser wheel or something similar to remove striping/lettering from the side of the hull?

    Alpha One G2 Exhaust bellows/tube ?

Is it possible to remove the exhaust bellows and install an exhaust tube in this setup without removing the sterndrive?

    5.7 Mercruiser drain locations

So I found five drain plugs for my 2001 5.7 but the Seloc manual mentions there may be another one in the "water tube" in the carbureted models. I looked all around don't see anything that looks similar. Am I missing something? Also, when I filled the engine with antifreeze, I poured the AF...

    Alpha One Gen 2 Impeller/Driveshaft

Does anyone know the size of the driveshaft in the AOG2 drive? I plan on replacing the impeller soon and the Seloc manual says to use the Mercruiser tool or "a washer of suitable size" to seat the water pump face seal. I just want to make sure I have the right size on hand to make this go...
