    2 batteries in parallel

Is it OK to just hook 2 batteries together? I leave my rig at a wet slip that is an hour away with no available electric and want to really beef up the available battery power for the automatic bilge. I know about switches and isolators. Can 1 alternator charge 2 batteries without damging the...

    Charging system troubleshooting

Noticed this evening that my charging system was..well, not charging. At first I thought it might be the gauge but I noticed that when I adjusted the trim it would make the engine bog slightly. Figured towards the end of the evening I was running on battery power alone as she really started...

    Observation that surprised me

How much drag an open bimini and an open cuddy hatch can create. First time out with the new 17 pitch aluminum prop (replaced a 15). We were towing 2 large tubes, had the bimini up and the cuddy hatch open. Looks like I picked up 5 mph by simply closing the bimini and the hatch. They create...

    Replace with what?

Not sure what they're called but my trailer had fabirc covered wooden 'steps' at each corner. They're really not functional just kinda looked nice, but now they've rotted away to wood heaven. I don't want to replace them with wood but not doing something makes the trailer look like a bare...

    Sandusky Bay to PIB

The plan is to put in at Sandusky and wander up to the islands tomorrow. Got all of the charts and have made a plan. Anyone think of anything I'm forgetting? Anything special about Sandusky Bay I need to know?

    Shallow ramps

Managed to get my rig on my trailer slightly caddywompus yesterday afternoon...shallow ramp so the bow was coming in under the bowstop. Had to pull forward but then the rig was against the bunks way short of having the bow at the stop. Anyways, I get home and realize the boat is off by about...

    Hull cleaner with oxalic acid

So my hull had started growing a beard...literally. Warmer than normal June...higher water temps...I had these small growths that looked like spiders with hundreds of legs all over the hull. I meant to take pictures but I forgot the camera. Hauled it out tonite...trailered it an hour home to...

    Hull growth

I used the search function but I got way too many hits. My rig has been sitting in a freshwater lake for about 5 weeks now at a slip. It has growth on the hull. Starting to get thick and I want to clean it off. I'm thinking I can get away with a pressure wash and possibly a scrub brush. Any...

    Am I being rude?

Saw this post in another thread... Also, if you're wakeboarding you should not be making sharp turns under power anyways as this chops up the water for the next time you pull up your rider, or the other riders in your vicinity. When I'm pulling the tube I'm always making sharp turns under power.

    Tube scare this week

Had my daughter and 3 of her friends out last week tubing. ALways try and give them a fun ride by doubling back through my wake or the wake of another boat. It worked a little too well. Who knew 14yo boys could fly? Typically when a rider comes off we turn around and as we're going back...

    $80 cupholders!?

My rig has some cupholders in the storage areas on the sides but none up high by the helm I though it would be cool to add a couple. I thought these looked functional:eek:

    Wet slip

This is my first full season with a wet slip, no electric. Over the last 2 days I took 4 teenagers tubing and swimming. Had to close her up last night while the carpet was still wet.:( Today I started thinking about the level of lube in my outdrive and the fact that checking it when it's...

    Frustration

Haven't had my rig in the water since Memorial Day. In Ohio that's pretty much 1/3rd of summer. I'm sure the mechanic gets sick of my weekly call, as I get tired of his weekly response. I've learned 2 things through this... 1. If it ain't broke don't fix it 2. Beginning to understand the...

    No good deed goes unpunished.

:mad::mad: End of last season I was having problems with my rig running rough, running rich, and not idling very well. Last thing to try after a full tune-up etc . was a reman carb (Holley 4160). Bought the carb at the end of March. Had a friend install it at the end of May. Wouldn't...

    Any decent 12v air pumps?

The ones I've seen look like it could take all day to inflate a tube.

Converting a charger that plugs into a lighter

Bought a new XM receiver for the boat that will plug in to the receiver head on the stereo. Didn't realize it at the time but the power is supplied by one of those units that plugs into a lighter. Can I just lose that part of it and hard wire it? In other words can I cut off the male part...

    Eagle Transducer wire

Noticed that my Eagle Fishfinder is not working nearly as well as last season. Used to give me reading while I was moving 10-12 mph forward. This season I have to be damn near stopped in order for it to read. Only one thing has changed; the wiring on the transom has come loose. Think this...
