Was that motor mounted on a jack plate or did the dealer install it right to the transom effectively casing the prop to be 5 inches lower than designed?

Yamaha 130 hp 25 inch on 20 inch transom

The whole midsection would need to be replaced as well as the driveshaft seems like a ton of work and $. Might sell it after I buy it and use the money towards a 20 inch 130 hp. This one was very well kept and I'd love to make it work though

Yamaha 130 hp 25 inch on 20 inch transom

He's giving me the jackplate but I don't think I want to set the motor that far back from the transom

Yamaha 130 hp 25 inch on 20 inch transom

So are people preferring the 3 inch adjustable jack plate or these 1/2 inch thick riser plates? I was thinking the riser might be better because it mounts closer to the motor? Either way I'm buying the motor due to a great price then I can decide what to do

Yamaha 130 hp 25 inch on 20 inch transom

The yamaha in the pic is on a 5 inch jack plate for his 20 inch transom. It's definitely a 25 inch motor. He added a piece of starboard to keep water from coming in when chopping the throttle. Here's another pic. His boat is a 20 ft bullet center console originally an outboard motor hull.

Yamaha 130 hp 25 inch on 20 inch transom

My boat is a 1997 wellcraft 190 ccf with a 20" transom. I want to install a 1999 yamaha 130 on it but it's a 25" motor. Not interested in swapping midsection and driveshaft. The seller is giving me the bracket he used to run this motor on his boat (it's in the pic of the yamaha 130). I also...

    Checking power trim sender

Working on trim guage again. I disconnected the triangle connector and put a jumper from the white with brown stripe pin to the sender on the guage. I also put power and ground to the guage. The guage is not changing when tilting motor up and down. I also jumped the white with brown stripe wire...

    Checking power trim sender

I looked all under the dash. Not finding the 3 loose wires with ring terminals. I found a white with brown wire in a connector with no wire coming out the other side of the connector in line with the white with brown wire. I put power and ground to the guage and jumpered a wire from that white...
