    1983 Blue Fin 16’ Resto

Never the decal type, but the holder plastic type were popular years back and believe they are still out there. Look just like the decal but molded from plastic about an 1/8" thick. The information panels are left blank and made to be engraved with whatever information is needed. In my much...

    Fuel came out overflow

On my boat, I ran the 18 gallon tank empty and came back on a portable tank. Then added about 3 gallons of fuel at a time and marked the fuel gage after each 3 gallons added. Now, I know pretty close how much fuel I had left. After confirming the fuel gage reading a few times, I know how much...

Any experience with trying to sell a boat on Boat trader ? Effective ?

Are you prepared to allow a survey or an interested buyer to do transom and stringer tests to test for potential wood rot ? Anyone with boat knowledge would want these test due to boats age, no matter how good it looks...just to big a risk. Extremely few glass boats of that age that have no...

Any experience with trying to sell a boat on Boat trader ? Effective ?

In my area, Craigslist was the hot spot many years back. We have a small town local newspaper that has worked well and the FB ads which my granddaughter does for me. FB is getting bad for no shows or scammers in the past couple years. Of course we all know Craigslist is mostly scammers. I...

Any experience with trying to sell a boat on Boat trader ? Effective ?

I have used many advertising platforms to sell my boats, except the one you mention. Never had a problem selling my stuff. Some times I get numerous calls but they don't show up. Typically I have sold to the first or second person to show up. Now, I have to say this....my boats did not...

best muffs to use on mercruisers?

If my old ones ever fail, the dual units look like they would work great. I don't have high hp big block engines that use volumes of water, so will hang on to mine for now. Many that my neighbors had troubles with were the square units, heard more than a few complaints on those.

best muffs to use on mercruisers?

My muffs are over 40 years old and have always worked very well. Neighbors have bought several newer muffs and have had issues with them. My guess is the newer models are not made as well as they often ask to borrow mine. Yes, the excess water will spray out from around the muffs as mentioned...

    Fuel came out overflow

There upis also a device that installs in the vent hose, that makes a whistle sound when filling. When the fuel pressure from filling reaches the vent hose the whistle stops. This is where you shutoff the pump to let the fuel settle and create an air pocket so no fuel comes out. Another thing...

    Bearing buddy issues

Hmmm...there was on mine....never used EZ lube hubs that I can remember. My instructions from years back always recommended jacking up the wheel and spinning it both back and forth to help remove air pockets and distribute the grease. Been following those guide lines for over 40 years.

    Bearing buddy issues

The instructions on my BB state that the wheel should be jacked up so free to spin. Hubs should be spun in both directions while pumping in grease. Whenever I add grease, I always spin the wheels both ways.

    1987 Crest III

You might also replace the gasket under that black valve unit where the hose plugs in. Those often dry and can leak fuel there as well. Our local Marine parts store usually carry the gaskets and O rings for tank repairs.

    Bearing buddy issues

There is no seal on the outside, and I don't know when the BB popped off. It was dark at night, we went out for fireworks, so not sure when I lost it. About a 40 mile roundtrip to and from the ramp, at 65 mph, there was no way the grease was going to stay in there. The axle got hot enough the...
