Maybe my turn for new boat time

@alldodge . . . I know you probably have been busy, but we are all on the edge of our seats waiting for some pictures . . .:p(y)

    2008 338 Four Winns

Probably a learning experience . . . for both parties. I've always spared the seller of the details, unless they ask for such, and just focused on what I want them to fix. TMI, can/does muddy the waters.

Maybe my turn for new boat time

Looking forward to your launch day. Will this be a trailer queen or slipped?

[SPLASHED] I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

AutoPilot Update . . . With a little help from the re-power guy (shop) via some emails back & forth, I was able to get the autopilot configured (so it seems). I won't be able to test it until Spring time, but the Optimus is now showing up on the Garmin with the three autopilot icons...

[SPLASHED] I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Fuel Sender/Gauge Update . . . Learning curve . . . I figured a few things out about the fuel gauge. I had originally thought the sender was wired to the Veratron Gauge (the 3 Large round gauges). After chasing the wires, I realized the sender is actually connected to the engine controller...

    Ants in the boat

Might have not seen the frequent DoorDash deliveries to the boat. :ROFLMAO:. I've had ants in one of my boats . . . not sure what they were living on, but they seemed to have found something. I sprayed the daylights out of all the compartments, nooks & crannies . . . success.

    New rules?

As stated, mostly clarifications . . . Marine Businesses using the forums Thread Hijackers Non-Genuine Participants Links to Terms of Use and Privacy policies AFAWK . . . the merchant site is now operational, having been non-functioning for the past several years. We are not sure about...

[SPLASHED] I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

FWIW - I am finding the gauges/sensors on the Honda engines are very consistent and accurate.

[SPLASHED] I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

I have a compass as well . . . I was able to see the engine data on the Garmin, so the network is 'talking'. . . It looks like it can see everything . . . . I got the new sender today . . . Looks pretty good. . . I tried to do a custom setting on the Veratron gauges, but it...

[SPLASHED] I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

Network Update . . . I took another run at the GPS networking today. The boat has 2 networks that are joined together (somewhere). So, I connected the GPS to the other network . . . much better, but the GPS was picking up a maintenance alert (20 hr service) and not wanting to do much else...

    2008 338 Four Winns

Yes, I was thinking. . the price was a bit high . . . I've seen same boats in the $70K range . Were the mechanical and safety issues and $ cost known at the time they were signing?

[SPLASHED] I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

I have a 1984 Toro 521, which was a workhorse last winter . . . it will be getting some of the gas that I pumped out of the boat. This afternoon, I mixed up some 'winterization cocktail' for the engines and added it back to the now empty fuel tank . . . about 8 gallons. I ran each of the...

    2008 338 Four Winns

The problem is, and will be, that boats 15-20 years old will need a lot of work. The owner/seller may not be aware of all the things that could use attention. A surveyor will certainly point all sorts of things out . . . that is their job. So the amount of work needed could be a shock to...

    2008 338 Four Winns

Yes, it seems like more and more the boats for sale are not taken care of . . . thus the reason for selling. I've seen boats that were supposedly maintained "with an open checkbook" that were in visibly rough shape . . . Must not have been much of a checkbook :ROFLMAO: Years ago I went to see...

    2008 338 Four Winns

Got it . . . It looks like the boat was/is listed at $89,900 . . not sure what you were in for as an accepted offer. But, if it was reducing the selling price by $6K to essentially take it 'as is' . . . As a seller, I would have taken it in a heartbeat.(y). What I would not want to...

    Looking for 243 Cockpit table

Missing bits and pieces can be a challenge when buying a used boats, as they are not generally available. Your best bet would be to make a new one, if you cannot find a general purpose one that fits. Doesn't have to be fiberglass, could be wood, but fiberglass may hold up better.

[SPLASHED] I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

The driveway is slightly sloped downward towards the stern. So, it is probably a little bit more bow-raised than how it sits in the water. It's a good position for winter storage, as any water readily drains. the tank is wider that it is front-to-back, and the sender is in the middle, so it...

[SPLASHED] I/O (Sterndrive) Conversion to Outboards

The tank has several internal bulkheads, but I look at the tank readings while the boat is at rest.

Mercruiser EC Exhaust Manifold Overheat - Help Please

I've always felt that the cooling of the exhaust elbow (riser) was a weakness in this design. It seems like once it gets to about 200-210˚F it wants Guardian mode. I think the elbow gets more easily restricted than the old-style elbows. @vasilios at some point in your ownership were you able...
